  1. This is the problem, IMO the 020 is streets ahead of all the others, for the sake of a few £100 its just not worth putting up with second best.
  2. Not true, Blackburn has a cathedral and is only a town.
  3. Nice one!!!!!! I'm very jealous!!!!! Have a great time!!!
  4. This is a quote from one of your posts in another thread:- Im worried it will fall apart with the abuse I give my saws. So no I'm not worried
  5. Surely this is why they pay high road tax, if the road is weight restricted there could a problem, I think you need a permit to regularly go over the weight limit on restricted roads.
  6. Yes I have loads of spares and that was one of the things that made me want another 200, but the 201 was just too tempting, it really is much better IMO. I still have a decent 200 thats only 18 months old, so I'll keep that going with the spares I have. Another point I forgot to mention in the OP is the switch, thats much nicer to use and protected so should not be knocked by accident.
  7. Before Christmas because of many negative posts on here about the 201t not being as good as the the 200t I rang Dick Leigh (my local dealer and a legend to all who know him) and asked if he had any 200's left, he did and said he'd put my name on one. Today I went to Dick's to pick up the saw, while there I thought I'd have a look at the 201, it looked really nice and felt very good in the hand. The top handle is a much better shape, the AV's seem much better, the shape of the whole saw is just better, they have even put "idiot marks" on the caps:001_rolleyes: for those of you who struggle with such complex equipment:001_tt2: So I asked how they had been finding the new saw?? They have only had one back with problems, that turned out to be a faulty spark plug, so easily fixed. So in the end I decided to take a 201t, instead of the 200t. Its fantastic:thumbup: Its the same as the 200, but better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so pleased its a good saw and that Stihl have not ruined the tool I use for 90% of my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Red wine

Yes but remember that everyones a "Tree surgeon" Even if they have only ever cut a few branches.
  9. Thats up to you. On your RA you are going to struggle to provide suitable mitigation for the risks the climber is facing without a AR climber.
  10. You must do a RA, but if their are less than 5 of you on site it does not need to be a written RA, a verbal one is fine. Although if things go wrong how do you prove you did a verbal one???? An employer has a "duty of care" to his staff, this includes a means of rescue for a climber.
  11. What tree does Pitch pine come from?? Me and my dad (he's a joiner) have discussed this many times and have failed to come to a definitive conclusion.
  12. We don't actually know that the customer is trying it on. This could be a genuine misunderstanding. We were not there when the quote was given. I almost never do written quote, but never have problems like this. When quoting I am very specific about the parameter of the job, I ask questions about what they want, such as "do you want the stumps grinding??", "are you keeping the wood?, what size do you want it cutting to?? and where are we putting it??"
  13. At least they are only holding onto revenue that they have generated, unlike some on benefits who just spend their likes with their hands out, expecting to have money for nothing.
  14. I have never seen my saw dealer use a tach, they always tune by ear, never had any problems.
  15. No necessarily, unfortunate we apear to have a very stupid and ill educated population in this country, who kick up a stink when ever incinerators are mentioned. Many other country burn a huge amount of their rubbish, they are burnt at very high temperatures and as you say the fumes are filtered, but over here people won't accept that its safe. So we still landfill
  16. Me too, my hands are great, no problems at all. I know some farmers who have terrible problems with their hands, but mine are absolutely fine.
  17. Surely "holding wood" is any wood thats being used to "hold", be that the hinge or back strap or any other wood thats holding.
  18. Indeed. One of my competitors is much bigger than me, but the liabilities are HUGE!!!
  19. Hehe, thats interesting, just checked up on my Co.
  20. Indeed I am currently burning green Horse Chestnut (felled yesterday ) OK its a large Farm 2000 type boiler, but I can't keep my hand on my radiators and my house is toasty
  21. I used to have one, did not do a massive amount with it, but it was very good to use. They have far more splitting power than many processors, I never came across something it would not split.
