  1. Out of recession!!! Things could really be on the up!!!!!
  2. Not at all they are very versatile and ideal for tree work,a front loader would not be my first choice for tree work, a crane is far more useful IMO. But you not going to get a decent Mog for the kind of money your talking and their road speed is one of the main reasons people want mogs
  3. Good stuff Stevie, we went out for a meal tonight and there was a Mark Twain quote on one of the beams "Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like no one is watching" I thought it was very good.
  4. If you don't need the high road speed, you don't need a mog.
  5. Of course, but back then trees were as you say left to just fall over, but in our modern world (and much higher numbers of people) we are not prepared to just lets trees fall over possibly killing or injuring someone. Plus as we are able to remove trees carefully, why let them fall damaging things people hold dear??
  6. Even when taking painkiller you will not be able to do yourself an further damage, it will still hurt a lot, but will take the edge off (unless you take the sort of painkillers that would prevent work with power tools anyway) As for core strength, I'm only talking about using the belt until your recover. I have had slipped disc's in the past and found that keeping going speeded up recover, I also had physiotherapy and did exercises to add recovery. As always I can only speak from my own experience
  7. Resting your back is a big mistake, IMO, better to take painkillers, wear a weight lifting belt and carry on.
  8. WOW :thumbup1: If only more had your will power!!!!!!!!!!! Truly inspirational!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbup1:
  9. Indeed. "Dangerous driving" and "drink driving" are the only criminal motoring offences, all the others are "misdemeanours" Would I employ some one who had a motoring offence?? of course I would, would I employ a drug user?? NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. By "emptying" I presume you mean draining any water from the tanks??
  11. Its a ms200, they come in top or rear handle, "t" stands for top handle.
  12. Terrible news, utter scum!!!
  13. My eldest son has started with me on the apprenticeship scheme. He started a couple of months ago, he's just dragging, raking and chipping for now, I'm going to get him on a small saw in the next few weeks.
  14. Yes, but often you end up with some oil residue around the oil cap (maybe you guys wipe round the oil cap or never spill, but IME I get some residue) sawdust sticks to the residue, this sawdust can the fall into the tank. Maybe I'm a lazy, sloppy workers, but thats just my experience, I prefer the caps separate.
  15. I could see it being of some help on very large chunks, but don't think it was really needed on the size of timber in the vid.
  16. Didn't watch the video, I don't like the look of it, the anti-vibs look very old fashioned to me, springs are much better IMO. It looks very plasticy and it looks like the brittle plastic that breaks, plus the caps being together is a big mistake IMO.
  17. I'm not keen on the caps being close together. As for chipper capacity, I'm much happier putting 5/6 inch stuff through my 9 inch schliesling, I prefer not to be working things at their limit, thats probably why its not needed bearings in over 6 years and 1000's of hours. Can't say I'm over keen on this saw, but then I like my 201t.
  18. But if your not making a profit your better off sat at home. Its very easy to be a busy fool.
  19. We each have the power to get a realistic wage, if people will work for peanuts the bosses would be fools to pay more. I looked at a job today, my quote was £1200, the customer offered £1000, I said "no, its £1200". He rang later and asked me to book the job in. The only people with the power to raise rates are the cutter, know your worth and don't work for less!! I know its not easy and I really don't want to patronise any one, but its a tough job and deserves decent coin, IMO.
  20. Not sure, did anyone catch her name???
  21. I don't have a problem with the weight of the 020, does using a lighter saw for much of the time mean that your arms becomes weaker, meaning that when you do use the 020 it appears heavier? PS, I personally don't want to be going to the gym to keep my arms strong enough for the 020.
  22. If it was a case of inaction they could only be charged with manslaughter, the fact that they have been charged with murder means they must have acted in a way that lead to someones death and that they intended for the person to die. Of cause they could well be innocent, but the evidence thats been found must point towards some action, not inaction, or they would have been charged differently.
  23. I have always worn cotton and people have always said its no good, but I took no notice. But recently when I did the sponsored walk, I got very cold and wet, I was on the edge of hypothermia, my biggest problem was the fact that I was wearing cotton!! I learned some very valuable lessons that day. I'm walking the three peaks on friday and I will not be wearing any cotton (other than my boxers) I am buying mostly modern man made fabrics that don't hold moisture. In time I hope all my work clothes will have been replaced by these better fabrics.
  24. Next year I'm going to draw (with a maker pen) round some of the egg clusters on the back of the leaves on some of our sycamores and see if that area goes black come autumn. I'm sure there is some correlation between the eggs and the spots.
  25. My understanding is that the black spots on the leaves are just where the aphid eggs were attached to the back of the leaf and have no affect on the health of the tree. I guess with the weather this year there will have been less aphids and so less spots.
