  1. I long since got away from thinking working long hours was clever, I now much prefer to work less and earn more.
  2. Did you notice the date of the first post??
  3. That has to be the most contradictory post I've ever read
  4. Sorry but he's just not being honest there, there is a very simple reason why they don't use grease-able bearings, they won't fit, there simply is no room, TW know the small sealed bearings are to small, bigger sealed ones would be a move in the right direction, but there simply is no room. They would need to redesign the whole machine, and they don't want to. Fortunately the positives about their machines are enough to keep a pretty big market happy, so it is still a successful machine.
  5. Many years ago I actually hired a MEWP for almost that exact task, half way through the first day I parked it up and just climbed into the hedge, much, much faster.
  6. Hi Paul, I hear what your saying, but I find I can have a perfectly good relationship with my local TO's, without feeling I need to go above and beyond the legislation. They know I will ring up to check an address for TPO's or CA without me telling them the intended works. I feel client confidentiality is extremely important and part of being a professional, I don't feel I should need to help TO's do their job, just follow procedures and stick to the rules
  7. Is that "best practice" in the AA's opinion ? Got to say its not something I would ever do. If anyone is going to do it I would recommend they inform the client of there intetions. If you went beyond the requirements of the legislation causing a tree to be protected, when sticking to the legislation would have allowed its removal, you may be liable for any material loss the client may incur by retention of the tree.
  8. With a TPO you are not giving the council 8 weeks to respond, you are submitting an application which they are supposed to deal with within 8 weeks, but there failure to hit the dead line in no way lessens the TPO. I think you may be getting confused with a conservation area notification.
  9. Why would a jack (with a top plate) sink into the rot any more than the wedges??
  10. People certainly do own C5's and they are now worth a fortune
  11. Well thats very different, hardly "naughty" if you asked:001_rolleyes: Why not say that in your opening post?????? I guess thats because then there would have been no thread, bit pointless really.
  12. We've done one for the local TO, the deal was I invoice the hedge owner and if I was not paid the council would pay and their costs would be secured against the house, to be recouped from its future sale. The hedge owner did pay.
  13. Mines still just as good as the day I bought it, no rope wear, but I am on very thin rope.
  14. I don't base my opinion on media hype, unfortunately its based on long personal experience being around these people. If there was research that told you grass was blue would you accept it?
  15. I friend of mine as asked me to post this for him. He's looking for felling work, forestry or site clearance, anywhere in the UK. If any one is looking for an excellent cutter for long or short contracts please PM me and I'll give you his details. Thanks.
  16. If you needed more, you could simple place blocks along side the jack, let the jack down, place a block under or above the jack and go again.
  17. I bought a 42", I was going to fit it onto a curtain sided arctic trailer, so no pit needed. I had it in a barn for many years, I eventually sold it on:sad:
  18. 12 to 15 tons, no were near, more like 4 to 5.
  19. Of cause they are!! So can I help myself to flags off the street and furniture from inside council buildings??? I think not!!!
  20. Nice one!! I will contact my supplier
