  1. Topper?????? Who calls climbing saws "toppers"?????????
  2. What if you were way over weight when stopped, would those tickets suggest you were well aware of being well over weight??
  3. If they want an invoice and you are VAT registered, you MUST itemise the VAT on the invoice.
  4. Do they not have planning yet? If not, did you have a FL?
  5. Well going through all your purchases has got to be more work that simply calculating 11% of turnover, plus the 9% of VAT I keep works out to be more than I would have claimed back
  6. Yes so your competitor is paying VAT on all their purchases, you could claim that VAT back, plus the VAT on you truck, chipper, saws, etc, etc, Surely that would make you able to charge less, meaning don't need to pass the whole 20% of the VAT onto your customers.
  7. No. On the "Fate rate scheme" you charge 20%, but pay 11% of turnover to the VAT man and only claim back VAT on purchases over £2K. So its far less complicated, simply calculate 11% of turnover each quarter and pay that, plus there is little scope for you making an error and claiming for something you should not have and ending up owing a lump of VAT. My accountant looked at it and reckoned it saved me around £800 per year. I think you pay less for the first year 9% or 10%
  8. I think they may have paper work of some sort, that states they are ONFA, so they can put their children in fresh schools, go to different GP's etc.
  9. That sounds quite harsh, I like to try and find a happy medium, where both I and my customers benefit from my service, but hey thats just me:001_smile:
  10. Fitted a Stihl full chisel chain to my 540, WOW, much improved, IMO.
  11. They should have written to you about this months ago, mine was posted to me along with the letter.
  12. Personally I would give the TO notice of my intentions, pointing out you are "abating an actionable nuisance", include a copy of the letter from highways.
  13. If they were savvy they would haggle for a better price on the soft, they have been told its no good a believe it.
  14. For those using processor, softwood of the correct size is far easier to source and for that size material the price difference between hard and soft is greater I think than £20 per tonne.
  15. Thats was awkward and he did tell Frank it was too big!!
  16. Larch and Pine are both conifers as are most if not all soft woods.
  17. I would not my yard in my garden, they need to be separate.
  18. Thats down to personal choice and discipline, not geography
