  1. 3 or 4 times a year, depends where we are working, when I used to do rail work they got blunt more often due to walking in them on ballast.
  2. I've sharped every pair of gaffs I've ever owned, I could not imagine using gaffs that were not kept really sharp, I don't stamp my spikes in, I expect my boy weight to be enough to push them in.
  3. We've not had winds as strong as this up here for a good while, its been really blowing for the last few hours!!
  4. I should be out clearing wind blows, called out by the LA, but my mog is in dock having a fresh gearbox fitted. Was going to go with some saws and see what we could do, but then realised the key for the container is on the mog keys Spoke to them, looks like they are leaving a lot of roads closed till tomorrow, so going to give them a hand tomorrow,
  5. Nightmare!!! Sounds like she's in the best place, wishing you both all the very best!!!
  6. Absolutely:thumbup1: no chance I would chose to use that commercially
  7. If your an owner operator, it only actually needs to be to the spec had at time of manufactured, when chain brakes were not required, unlike chippers where the current legislation is retrospective, requiring older machines to be modified to meet the newer regs.
  8. It looks like a "White finger special".
  9. I really can't see how anyone could think DRT is double attachment, if they did whats was all the fuss about second attachment when cutting about. Sounds like a case of Chinese whippers to me.
  10. All this talk of shooting looters is great until some innocent checking on a friends house is blown away, or someone with a grudge against a neighbour asks them round and shoots them claiming there were looting.
  11. Calm down, calm down, I very much doubt the horse is badly injured, it was more than likely scratching its kneck, when it slipped and got stuck
  12. Ah, I'm Ltd and with Arborisk, they have been really good and very competitive my mate moved to them this year, he is a sole trader, he saved over £700 and got tool cover, which he did not have before.
  13. Why do you need a "package" to be a sole trader?? Its very straight forward, speak to the tax man and crack on, don't waist money on things you don't need, would be my advice. Unless I'm missing something
  14. I detest pegs!! can't believe some of the pic's I see on here, pegs everywhere:thumbdown:!!

    free dinner

    Pub lunch!! Mixed grill!!
  16. :lol:This winter is ace!!!, its like someone has spun the country round, up here we are normally being washed away or frozen to death, this year its so mild and no wetter than normal, with a few good days thrown in. Normally there is no mention of our dreadful weather on the news, but this year all we see on the news is terrible weather, but down south instead of up here!!! Very strange. I do feel so sorry for all those affected by the flooding though, thats truly horrific
  17. What like we did????? Perish the thought!!!
  18. I may be a bit of a cynic, but I wonder if the powers that be have miscalculated, I think they like a certain level of disaster, it helps them sell the whole "global warming" thing, which allows them to tax us in the name of green wash. I think there has be deliberate lack of action to allow a certain level of disaster, but its been way worse than they expected. I could be wrong.
