  1. I was wondering who would notice worked really, really well:thumbup:
  2. I was stumped at first because there was no way of getting the crane near
  3. Yes I really enjoyed it and brought it in a little under budget for a really nice customer
  4. I'm not sure its a legal requirement to have all the tickets, the requirement is training for saw use, most skills are transferable, experience is very important, I find it very hard to believe any one would be prosecuted for not having a pacific ticket.
  5. It was bigger than it looks on the pic's, the biggest final cut was nearly 3ft across
  6. Thanks for the comments lads
  7. Few more pic's from my lads phone
  8. I once had a very attractive customer tell me about her very handsome gardener, she got her girlfriend round when he was working, she did not understand why I was upset that she had not invited them round when she knew I was coming
  9. Three, now my son is my apprentice.
  10. We removed this Sycamore this week, it was in a bit of a tricky spot, growing out of a steep banking over a river and sewer pipe. The owner was concerned that if it ever failed it would cause all sorts of problems. I failed to get a before picture, but my son has some from earlier in the job, which I will add later. I cut and chucked much of the tree, but there was a point at which I was faster to lower the timber, than cut discs and section them small enough too throw. We set up a line between two Oaks with a pulley running between them and swung chunks in to the path above, there should be some pic's of this later. Then for the lowest part of the trunk, we set up another line, from two Oaks to the mog and zip-lined sections over to a garden below the tree.
  11. I have many accounts with all manner of suppliers, they all give me 30 days, why should I begrudge my customers of the same??
  12. I don't think Bumble bee hives contain hundreds, are they not quite small colonies???
  13. Yes!!! Just takes practice and a sharp file.
  14. It done each time a new chain is fitted.
  15. I never remove a chain until its dead, with practice you will soon find you can get a chain razor sharp in less time than it takes to fit a another chain.
  16. Its not about steam, all logs produce creosote gas, this will normal be burnt in the fire or pass up the flue and out, but when you burn wet wood the fire achieves a lower temperature, this leads to more creosote going up the flue and a lower flue temperature which means more of the gasses condense on the inside of the flue, this leads to corrosion and tar build up and posable flue fire. This is my understanding any way
  17. I do mine in the hopper of the chipper or on the trunk of a felled tree, sharpen one side right handed and the other left handed, I've not used a vice for sharpening a chain for the best part of 20 years, I dread to think how many chains I've filed away, must be 1000's.
  18. You could turn or carve it.
  19. That Sycamore looks a lot like an Ash.
  20. How do dogs and cats get cancer???
