    46 Today!

    Happy birthday guys!
  2. I for one want to see this supposed 'LAW' referring to the 'CS' units specifically as you have claimed. How can they legislate that you must hold certification from one particular board, when the HSE merely states 'trained and competent' which could well be determined by another, more senior and competent operative. I know first hand that the EA delivers its own IN HOUSE training and certification on certain pieces of equipment including wood chippers
  3. nothing wrong with general grabber AT2's Mark. Nothing at all. Old man had them on his disco for years. wear very well indeed and grip better than you'd think. easily as well as the BFG ATs id tried previously. I run MT's on my pickup now out of necessity but for what you're talking about, so long as the speed and load rating is sufficient, Id jump on the generals right away
  4. Now that, I really quite like the look of... looks for a generous relative
  5. That's interesting to know, but don't stihl put their decomp valves for example on the 026, in the top of the cylinder? Im fairly sure mine is
  6. cheers Tony. I need something to get my teeth stuck into. Sounds ideal
  7. it's pretty much that simple in that the holes for both nato hitches and ball hitches are in my experience spaced the same. however it would be too high for a ball hitch so you would need some manner of drop plate. during my time on lr4x4.com I remember some instances of drop plates for ball hitches that were custom made to hang from the nato hitch and then tie back into bolt holes in the chassis. This is where I would say the ideal solution is!
  8. not to say it isnt good for a giggle mind you!
  9. if going off exactly what was taught on CS30 back when I did it, wedge useage was not covered, and im guessing that was more than the length of the guide bar? also not covered. Fair enough, Common sense would dictate how to finish it off if youd never done it before, but that's very easy to say for someone who is competant and specifically trained in cross cutting larger material
  10. thats really not cool! pretty long term huge bat fan myself. would love the opportunity to become a handler and work with the amazing little critters but for one thing i wouldnt know where to start! Am I to assume that there is someone who would be able to point me in the right direction here on Arbtalk? Tony, is that £15 the standard price for NG? is that an electronic version rather than a print version? Always been the go to publication for me in waiting rooms, but never got around to subscribing
  11. of..... feathers? polystyrene?
  12. 'some say, he's unfamiliar with the concept of a chainsaw'
  13. ive just moved from a blakes, and got myself a hitch climber which im currently climbing with a distel. Will be watching this thread with interest!
  14. I got XTC magma-ice I THINK XTC plus, fire and ice are all the same XTC ropes in construction with different names and different colours
  15. you want a speedy hydraulic winch? try a milemarker type R
  16. Bought it a month ago at the very latest Id have said
  17. yeah that's it mate. when i tried to sharpen the stihl chain with the roller guide, everything fit up perfectly except it seemed to be set for a 'down angle' of 10 degrees, so Im forever countering that by holding my hand level off the back roller Cant find a specification of the husky H36 chain to back this theory up, but the oregon recommended chains of 91VX and 91VXL have a flat top plate the same as the stihl chain not looking likely
  18. Im assuming that chain is made by oregon, but cant seem to find an oregon chain that fits the bill. I asked Les Cork, but checked the specs on the chain(s) he recommended and they had the same 90degree top plate as the stihl chain. maybe im on a hiding to nothing... again
  19. Evening all, was sold a 3/8 picco/pixel/whatever husky roller file guide on the understanding that it was also suitable for my 200t chain. physically fits the chain and the files I have are correct, BUT stihl chain has a 0 degree (horizontal) top plate on the cutter whereas the file guide appears to have a 10 degree back hand drop built in, which is spot on in the case of my 3/8 roller for my 372 and my /325 one for my 346, but im having to hover my back hand to sharpen the cutter correctly. to the best of anyone's knowledge, is there a chain available for the 200t which has the 10 degree drop in the top plate? I really like using the roller file guides so Id rather buy the next chain to suit if possible thanks Jim
  20. is there a northern version of woodlots? seems very heavily southern oriented?
  21. ive always believed that giving a fresh engine some hammer, getting it loaded up asap beds the rings in a lot better. have come across several car engine rebuilds that have suffered as a result of being 'too gentle'. with my new 372 and 200t, they were the first 'new' saws ive owned, and they went to work the 2nd time they were run, but that was out of necessity more than anything
  22. just gone under -6 here. no more snow tonight so far, but woke up to find a good couple of inches on the ground this morning which hasnt melted. dont think its really come above freezing all day
  23. I left the family farm, went to uni to study music production, got to the 2nd year and started working for a tree firm just outside Leeds. cant even remember why it was I decided i wanted to!! the rest is history!
