  1. I have the opportunity to have for free a County 1164.The Engine is likely Seized as its been sitting outside with the Exhaust open for a few years. Its on a Farm thats going up for sale soon. 1)What would an approximate cost of a replacement Engine be? 2)Once replacement Engine is installed and it all works well, what would it likely fetch after a coat of Paint? Other than the Engine the Tractor looks pretty good.
  2. Nail.Head.Hit. If you can't find local work you have to Travel to get it.There are more than a few Companies in the Larger Towns that have big Trucks.
  3. Call all the Tree Companies in all the Cities in Australia that you want to work in? Might be the best Money you ever spend.
  4. I counter your Argument by stating TW's are rubbish in general and pale in comparison with a Jensens Power and Teutonic Engineering Brilliance.
  5. I would reccomend a Jensen.I have two of them, they are well Engineered and well thought out. They seem to have the fastest stress control I have seen.Very reliable with great parts support if your need them. Search in here for people asking for help fixing their Jensen, you won't get many hits.
  6. Cold mate rain lots Bergen here:001_smile:Sun need like lots rain not:001_smile:
  7. The deafening Thunder of my utter Magnificence makes me proud and Loud to be me.
  8. Sharpening the Chain with the File pointing down will make more of a difference with longer Bars than what size Sprocket you are using. A longer Gullet on the Tooth means the Tooth has more room to "Coil" the Chip coming from the Cut.Try it.
  9. Chalk up the Face Cut and back Cut so its easier to see in the Dark.
  10. The first one I bought made it from th AA show to Gatwick Airport where is Zipper hemoraged in the Terminal. I bought another at the APF as I was drunk. It almost made it to the Carpark before one of the Straps Ripped off. "Freinds don't let Freinds use STEIN"
  11. You'd have to keep your Stumps low, that thing has the ground clearance of a Skateboard.
  12. And Hippies. Imagine how many you would get if you flew over a Whale Stranding or left a strip Standing in an old grow Forest.
  13. Chris How about making a Silky Scabbard that 1) Has a Roller ateach corner so the Saw never Cuts the Scabbard 2)Has one capitive Magnet in it and another that you tape to the Silky so the Silky never comes out of that. 3) Has a larger Hole in the Bottom so it dosn't get plugged with Detris 4) Holds Secaturs. If you got it to market I beleive it would sell.
  14. As little as I could get away with paying you,for as long as your willing to Tolerate it.
  15. No idea on what the current price is,I had a look on the internet and it was $2.50 a Kilo late last year. When I knew a couple of shooters in Taupo, they had to get two Deer and hour to break even. I don't think many operators are doing it full time. The Government will bring in Gunships when the Deer populations get too high though.
  16. I think taking Head Shots is a bit like one handing a Saw.There will always be to very different points of veiw,at the end of the day its up to the user of the Tool.
  17. I lived in Taupo for a couple of years. The ropes course was there then, but the Museum was pretty small and mainly a Tourist shop. There are some great Books and DVD's about the Venison Recovery industry in the late 70's and 80's.
  18. Scan those pictures,he must be eager to share them.
  19. If you tried to fire a Lee Enfield untill the Barrel Glowed,it would 1 Be impossible to see the sights from the Heat Mirage from the Barrel 2 Be impossible to Hold because the Barrel would have heated up the Wood to the point of the oil coming out of the Stock burning your hands. 3 Self Loading Rifles have been used in Deer Recovery since day one.L1A1's,G3's,BAR's etc have been common since the 1950's.I venture your friend is pulling your Leg. Ask him to show you the Photos of his exploits.
  20. Like it or not,Deer are regarded as Pests in New Zealand by the Government. When the price of Venison in Europe climbs, Aerial Venison recovery takes place. The Animals are gutted on the Hillside and flown to a Truck to be taken to a Chiller and eventually Europe. The Shooter is trying for Head/Neck Shots,as the Carcass is worth more. This explains the Misses. Also the Caliber of the Rifle he is using dose not lend itself well to Body shots anyhow. 21. Parachuting into a Mine Field in High winds would take alot of guts.
  22. Steve.I just make the back cut at the level of the top of the front cut. Deer man. There are better ways to spent 2K,like a GRCS and Porta Wrap for example.
