  1. Great idea Rich! However what would keep your highly motivated and skilled staff from leaving your setup in a satellite location and doing their own thing?Considering self starters are what you need and that quality is what makes one "go it alone".
  2. A four ton Turfor Winch and 100ft of Cable. Once back in the day,a "roll in the Hay" from a clients Daughter.
  3. If its a plastic bit in the Bore.Pull the cord untill the Piston is at the Bottom, fill the Bore with Fuel, then pull smartly on the Cord. Out comes the peice.

  6. I have only been doing this job for 17 years, not a long time considering some other forum members.I have only had the misfortune of losing one workmate onsite in that time.I have seen some horrible and many small injuries. Pretty much any manual worker would have witnessed much the same.
  7. No I am not. I would say being a squaddy is alot more dangerous than climbing Trees.Sure there are times in your Tree career that you are subjected to risk or injury but not at the magnitude or frequency that a member of the Armed forces is during their career.
  8. Think a bit, then push some Buttons. Bravo 2 zero?
  9. Tree work is not that difficult or dangerous.Your not in the SAS chappy.
  10. I love solo climbing. Its is just so edgy and cool.
  11. I like how it can be raised without extending the width of the Machine. How long has it been tested out in the feild? I am pretty skeptical about the robustness of the uprights bolted to the Track Frame, the rocking action of the machine would be tough on that union even with Gussets. I hope I am wrong, because its a great idea and I would love to have one. Whats the price?
  12. Once I was working in the UK years ago, this lady comes over and ask's for a quote.Over the road we went and into her back garden, there was a Ash Tree of about 60 foot in the corner. "That Tree" she said "£500" I replied "Great" answers the Woman,"When can you do it?" "After the job we are on now,go get the money and we'll have it done by the time you are back" Off she went to the Bank,I stood on top of a Wheely bin, felled it into the Brambles on the Railway siding, cut the Stump into Rings, over the Wall they went.15mins later we are on the Blower and Brush £500 the richer!

  16. And older person might need to learn the job,but at least they will know how to work. Many youngsters are hard workers, however many more need to adjust their attitude to work. To answer your question, what would make your more attractive would be your pre 97 licence, your maturity and the fact that you took it upon your own back to retrain.
  17. Totally depends on the Machine. I have bought three chippers at 5K or less. All were reliable trustworthy machines.Take someone along who knows their stuff.
  18. Liam and I saw a Husky top handle in a shop over here recently.I wonder if they are already released in Scandinavia?

  20. Logger´s in New Zealand, especially Skiddy´s (people who trim and cut logs to length) would get about a year from a saw. Running 8 Hours a day, using up to 20L of Fuel a day. You used to get "Chainsaw allowance" a non taxable payment that was used to buy parts and Bars.It was about 150% the cost of a new saw over a one year period.
