  1. We climbed and sectioned down the biggest Oaks, under the direction of a retired Surgeon turned Long Boat enthusiast. They use the long curved Limbs to form the Ribs, plank the Barrels and use other bits for Oars etc.

  3. I spent most of today cutting down a Old Oak Tree in a Norwegian Forest so some people could use its Timber in the Construction of a Viking Long Boat. Did anyone find that interesting?

  7. I have used vegetable Oil in place of Bar Lube on many occasions.Works well enough.
  8. Honestly i have had about enough of Sthil. There used to be reason in justifying the extra cost of them, however these days their quality seems to have slumped. I believe they had better sort their act out or other manufacturers will pick up their market share. I used to work in a Logging crew,066's and 064's used to run eight hours a day, five or six days a week, limbing bucking and falling timber. All with only basic maintenance. Try that with a new Sthil.
  9. Great Video! I think thats the most interesting Video and contribution I have seen on here in ages.

  11. Excellent advice! Also when you call, you are selling yourself,so write up exactly what you want to tell the prospective employer.Have someone you trust proof read it and then practice reading out ,untill you are comfortable and sound comfortable with every word. All the best mate.

  15. When the Rope Freezes it is more difficult for it to bend through the Wrench.I ended up having to bounce around on the rope to try and get it to run.
  16. Word. Big up´s and props to Rich and dem slamming bredrins.
  17. There is not much you can do about Cordage freezing.Even with dry Ropes, the snow sticks to them, your hitch melts the snow and it all ices up. I was using a Rope Wrench yesterday above a VT on a Single line and it was hopeless. The frozen Rope wouldn´t bend through the Wrench. It would be great if the Petzel Zig zig gripped and didn´t ice up so much?Time will tell.
  18. He would have never gotten stuck in a Landrover.
  19. That is very good money for the right Climber in New Zealand.Hawkes Bay is a fantastic place to work and play, especially if you enjoy Hunting,Diving or Fishing. Quite honestly if I was working back home,I would up sticks for a opportunity like this one.
