  1. Definitely the timetable! I have done many a course in a similar situation. At least then the better half new when I was studying. Plus you then know how long you have yourself to get your work done! This helps with motivation. Always helps if you can study somewhere neutral like a library. Good luck Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Construction! I am a trained Plant Operator & NVQ Assessor & Verifier. Just looking at a new path. I guess income will be a major factor. As for winter weather, I love it! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Yep you are probably right about "few others". Im nearly forty and wondering whether the same career change will be right for me (and family). Fingers crossed eh? There is only one way to find out!! Good luck!! "In at the deep end. Out on the golden sand!"
  4. Hello all. After 15 years in the Army I am seriously considering a career change. Due to my love of being outdoors, rain or shine and not being afraid of a hard days graft, Tree Surgery seems like the ideal change. As part of resettlement to "civvy street" there are training providers out there who cater for service leavers (Kingswood, TKF to name a few). Before I make this leap I thought why not get advice from the people who know. So is it a good move for a 40 (nearly) year old to make? Who are the better training providers? Are any of you service leavers who have made the same career change? Where is the best place to start? Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
