  1. Some Birch and a couple of Oaks had been planted in the past. Also an Elm. A few of the Trees were dead or dying and will be replaced with Ash. The trees were quite small for their age, your right, the cold and limited light has ment a hard life for them. The growth rings on some of the dead tops we removed were tight as could be. Yes,seven of the climbers are Norwegian.I was the token foreigner. Took three and a half days.Pretty manic but the trees wern't all that big and often you could swing from one to another and not all required extensive deadwooding. About half of the Trees were on a path up to a Colledge, the few Specimens that were of the size you'd expect from a 200year old Ash were more sheltered and up by the main house.Unfortunatly these Trees were in a bad state and after removing Hazard limbs, they are to be felled.
  2. I was part for a Group of climbers that went to Trondheim to deadwood 200 odd Ash Trees. The Trees were planted around 1800.We had a great time and it was nice to get out of Bergen for a while.Even if it took over ten hours each way to get to Trondheim.
  3. Where does one get a "accident profile" for Norway,Sweden.Danmark and Finland? I for one would like to know. Make interesting reading.
  4. I'm up for it! Might try and hire a Transit van and skip the tent idea,do abit of "propper tree work" on the way and recoup some travel costs.

  6. I would go the academic route. Its not like theres loads of work out there at the moment,so you won't be missing out whilst your studying. Also I would think that having more academic qual's might make it easier to get a less physically demanding job in Arb.
  7. Has the vibration gotten worse? Seems strange that the vibration comes in at a certain speed, then goes away only to appear again. Can you take off the rear drive shaft in your Shed, jack up the front and run it to have a look?If you take off the front wheels then you'll have plenty of room. Take the front shaft off.Engage difflock and still take it to Manchester.
  8. £2000 Thats my best guess considering your hiring in help and removing any wood.
  9. Felling some roadside Trees last week in the snow. Chilly but beats rain!
  10. Good to know mate! I have a mate who is handy with a Welder,he wants some Oak planks for a table. And in return.......
  11. That does look good! Do you put a sheet of Steel in the bottom of the burner,or don't the bottoms burn out of them? Nice job!
  12. Larry was now sure that the two guys living next door were more than just "close freinds".
  13. Its bloody hard to tell on Video, also standing on a slope above the Tree can be deceptive. Anyway, these guys would deffinatly know as they are true Professionals.[ame= ] [/ame]
  14. Sometimes Big is all you can do.
  15. Sorry to hear that mate! You take it easy and get well soon eh!
  16. After reading about far too many things being stolen,I thought that together we might be able to offer some tips to keep our gear secure.Wether it be chippers,Vans, lockups etc. Here is one that I used to use.I used a D shape cycle lock over the Clutch and Brake pedels of my Landy. Then I would chain the steering wheel to the Brake with a length of Grade 8 chain and a Abloy Padlock.A pretty cheap solution to at least slow down any theives.
  17. I like the adverts. The advertisers are all firms you can get feedback on from people on here. Good resource.
  18. Never seen that happen in the past. Just one of those things I guess.
  19. Here you go Ed. However garnishing your bottom with mear Salt and Pepper, won't do much to disguise the taste.
  20. Trees that had been filled with concreate. Why would that ever have been a good idea?
  21. I would have thrown it in the water from up the Tree. Amatures.
  22. One of these will fit nicely onto the back of the Mog.On the back of the Rascal I plan to put a quadbike, and on the quad I will put a wheelbarrow and in the wheelbarrow a broom.
  23. Fido's disaperance confirmed the theory of Car boot Vortex phenomena!
  24. 090 is 137 CC 090 GD has gears in the final drive,I have never seen one but "back in the day" this was the last word in saws running long Bars?
