  1. Fair enough that sharpening a saw in a workshop may result in a better job if the vice is free standing.Otherwise I never seem to get a comfortable angle on one side or the other.
  2. We should get a keg or three, the front mounted chipper on skyhucks mog would hold plenty of ice...
  3. While working in the States:"So Mike, whats your New Zealand name?" And a customer told this to my groundie"I usually don't allow foreigners to work for me,but this is dangerous and he's not American"
  4. How do you find that harness on large dismantle's?I have a treemotion that I found just didn't offer enough back support when hanging a large saw off your belt.I have gone back to my old Komet with detatchable braces for most of my work.Must get a new one, mine is well knackered.
  5. I didn't know there were any Chinook's in NZ mate? Mil-8 was the heaviest lifter when I worked there, did you do some standing stem salvage in B.C?
  6. [ame=http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLFAJQ7SLew&feature=related]http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLFAJQ7SLew&feature=related[/ame]
  7. Very nice! Is that a 8110? Great truck, looks very professional!
  8. Nice head on that Stag! I prefer the Skull mounts as opposed to the whole head and neck with the skin on! Thanks for sharing:001_smile:
  9. I have had a look around the net but can't find the Farmi dealer in the Uk.I am headding to the Uk tomorrow and would like to collect some bits (hydralic selector end linkage cap) specifically.I am headding to Wales from London and back again. Who is the man to see?
  10. No.Because my missus is so big I need an extension on my 12foot flip line. And anyway I'd not fall that far before I became wedged in a crack.
  11. Its a Diesel in a Toyota Landcruiser,I'm not sure if its the four cylinder 3A,3B etc or the later fiver cylinder.I have heard that the latter engine suffered from poor cylinder heads.
  12. I am looking at buying an ex tow truck,it has had the head replaced after just 37000km!This seems most unusual to me. I first suspected that the engine may have been overheated and the head had warped or cracked. What else may have caused this?
  13. [quote name= We are putting a conehead on a tracked D4 undercarriage. Go anywhere ability... The U2450 would be neat with a plant trailer for moving that between sites, but we also have a 14 tonne excavator and blade running alongside to feed the chipper. QUOTE] Interesting! Are you going to be extending the track frame on the D4 chassis?Or won't the chipper's over hang or weight be enough to make it "tippy"? Did you choose the D4 track gear as the machine is American and Komatsu machines are not as popular over there as other places? Good idea though,I'd love to have a look at some pictures of how your are setting up the hydro static drive. Big project mate!
  14. Looks like Hash to be honest.
  15. Loverly bit of Splicing there Jamie,I bet its now securely fastened to your ANORAK!
  16. Not to forget: Propper Rigging Ärboral Tree Technicians They come aplenty!
  17. Juniper just isn't cool enough for me. But you probably knew that.
  18. Horse's for course's.That truck would probably be the mutts for most things in Europe and the UK.Units like the cone head could be towed into rough terrain behind a Dozer after a bit of bladework to smooth out the humps.I'm not sure I'd want a new Truck mounted unit bing dragged through a bog behind a D7. Well not if it was mine anyway:001_smile:
  19. Its true! But before the Martians become visable you have to firstly injest another type of fungi.Small blue-ish pointy mushrooms with a little point on the top. Apparantly:001_smile:
  20. Very good suggestion, thanks!I will score some Reindeer Antler just to be a bit different. There is no shortage of that stuff here, just have to find the peice that "feels" right. I'll post photo's when I'be finnished.
  21. I reckon you would still have to fab up a frame,as a three point linkage chipper is only for that type of linkage. There might be ones that would fit but, fabing up a frame would be a very simple task.Much, much cheaper than buying the three point linkage setup for your mog.Somebody here might be able to construct somethink for you? Ask about.
  22. Jeebuz! That was close! I was in a landcruise when it Hydraulicd the engine in a river back home.Never forget that sound!
  23. Cool thanks.I have a mate that makes all sorts of decorative things in Birch Burl,I'm just a fan of hard woods. I think I'll co with the oak with a copper endcap and copper guard.
