  1. Two snow mobiles and a rope would have solved that. Idiot.
  2. I would like some arm protectors. Do they make ones for your neck?
  3. Did "Crane Ninja" do that? "Crane Ninja" cleaves Trees with a single Chop!
  4. No I was already a heartless basket
  5. And a Flat cap with a golden horseshoe embroided on the top.
  6. You can hitch a chail onto cable with a hitch that has a rude name. Its a bit like a prussick but tied with a single length of chain, use it to shorten wire ropes when back pulling.
  7. The Hiab was impressive indeed. It can lift 750kg at 120 foot.It also has 200 ft of cable that is spooled on a drum towards the end of the jib.
  8. Thats a soft Northener Cut. I opened my chest with an 020. Thanks for sharing that wee scratch you Tart.
  9. Use a "Buzzard Hook".Its a normal hook but with a "Dead Gate" that unlocks either with a Bolt or by pushing a button on the Hook. Sounds like the crane driver was trying to "yard" the lift, pulling it towards the Crane rather than straight up as it should.Every attachment method has its disadvatages,Grapples,Chains, soft strops, wire rope. If the peice had to come through obstructions, then included loops,ie Strops should not have been used as there are loops to catch things on.A "D" Shackel attached above the Hooks (if its a light peice) and a wire rope with choker would have made a bit more sence.
  10. Got a Crane job rushed through, the 120 ton Cable crane never materialised so we did it with the knuckle boom. Seven Trees, one over the house, three lifted out in one go. 4.5 Hours including Coffee break.
  11. Driving the Mog through the Forest in fine weather. Scandinavian woman. Looking forward to a night out with the lads. Hitting empty .22 shells at 20meters with a Pistol. Crane Jobs. Booking a ticket back to New Zealand and seeing the departure date thats three months after arrival.
  12. Tidy job that mate! What kind of Tree was it?
  13. People who speed up suddenly when you over take them. Clients that owe me money. Watching the groundie rake up a nice wee pile on a gravel driveway pick it up and chuck it in the chipper. Groundie getting the hump when I chip his lunch after said event.
  14. Top job mate! Loving the blue Sky!
  15. Almost always got tips working in Germany.I used to buy the weeks grocery's from the money. In the States as often as not we would be tipped,we would pool the money and use it to fund BBQ's.
  16. I don't know about that. But there are more than a few Forest over there that are classed as War Graves. Its illeagle to even take a shovel into them because of all the dead Soliders and unexploded bombs.
  17. Chuck em mate.Just not worth the Risk of them shattering. I have seen the results of a sledge hammer going through a BC1800.Bits of blade were stuck into the Steel end of the Trucks chip box. Some of the blade went out of the top of the Chute. Are they blades for a BC1000?
  18. I am single and without the family considerations that many on here have. I feel sucessful when we have the equipment on site and are charging through the work, when clients and employees are happy with the enviroment we have created workwise. When I am standing in the yard on a summers evening looking at the gear and remember when this was just a dream to me. I am living a dream I have fostered for over a decade, luck, hard graft and going without has gotten me here.
  19. Have a look in the Rigging and roping sub section on this forum mate, there are pictures of it in "Zip line fun" or similar. The Thumb came with the digger,it has two Rams.Very handy
  20. Yes that actually my Chaffeur,I bought him from the a former Soveit country. He is standing beside my "shopping car" .My normal car is a stretched Unimog with two engines.
  21. My steering wheel cover would be made from a Budist Monk and the Fluffy Dice from Snow Leopard Tails.
  22. Quite agree. If I was shelling out my hard earned for a top spec BMW I would want trim that was made from somthing perhaps looted from a Palace by the Germans during the war. Or an endangered tree at the very least. Not to mention what "leather" I would want the Seats covered in.
  23. This could be doable guys. Its a shame that it rains so much here, next Spring would be the best time.No problem with accom,my business partner has a family house in the country thats mostly used as a holiday home and there are three boats there.
  24. Nah,Ammonium Nitrate and "Dets" mate:001_tongue: The whole idea was to dodge mad "Nogs" marching through the streets armed with crossbows and drumming. Anyone who hasn't seen it will think I am joking.
