  1. yeah AP should be a class 11 splice but the outer is so strong its ok to be spliced as a class1. when weve destroyed them, all the class1 splices held up strong enough, easily. I think a new version of AP will be out soon with a poly core, but Ropey will have to comment on this. I agree that the dyneema core isnt the best as a prussic material but the outer stops this being an issue, ive never had the core melt or change from a quick descent yet but your points are very valid jamie.cheers bro. and yeah david, its spliced at both ends, double braid.

  4. its all brand new so no idea yet! im thinkig that a small bungee from the duck to the hand ascender to lift it, there is no hole for a carabiner to secure the cam, your thumb holds the cam shut-it fits the hand nice and this stuff is all about weight saving, had the foot ascender on today and it flicks offf just like a pantin and it stays in place a bit better than the pantin, the straps didnt move all day unlike the pantin which i had to stitch to stop them moving. ill let you know how it goes when ive spent some time on it.
  5. yeah im not sure bro-you headin there too?
  6. not sure if youd need a visa adam. is sweden part of eu?
  7. Just been given this kong gear to have a play with, its pretty minimal to say the least. i like the plate on the foot ascender
  8. nice.
  9. its definetly appreciated david, cracking shots (from everyone)
  10. this mornings work:001_smile:
  11. when i said tension i meant just setting it by walking along it. my mistake............
  12. no mate, by a length of hitch cord.
  13. the first few locks can be a bit hard to get due to not much surface area to grip on but after that i dont notice much difference apart from it gets easier the higher you go. saying that though its definetly easier wearing the gronells as the soft rubber rand grips the rope compared to the meindls. I mainly use this tech when i cant be arsed getting my pantin and croll out of the bag-its a nice quick and ez way to ascend as the ascender is way easier to hold than a single line. and you dont have to worry about catchin both lines with your feet of course
  14. once you get over 10m bro, you fully notice the weight difference in the rope.
  15. some more:001_smile:
  16. just some random ones from nz
  17. i cut through the cobra with secatuars and use the m rig to tension the system up
  18. This is what i use for single line footlocking. i tie a running bowline to attach at the top of the tree and then when i get there i just lanyard in, unattach ascender, undo bowline and attach to hc.
  19. i think they stopped selling them didnt they?
  20. weve started using seperate trees to back up the ones were climbing and ............... off on a tangent but at work we told about making sure our anchors are 10kN how are you supposed to check that? i think someone had read some user instructions in the office and got a bit excited. How come the uni doesnt have to be backed up anyway as its mechanical?
  21. unicender!!
  22. it will degrade the sap really quick, just rub the rope with it and let it sit in abucket or bag for a while then rinse off with the hose. it might take a couple of goes if its really bad. we tend to leave big stubs when working the figs so that ropes dont run over the open cuts so much
  23. could you not just make an alpine butterfly below your ascender and clip a revolver or crab/pulley and work off this to make it drt off srt? or wrap a prussic on the srt line and clip into that to work drt? better off just installing a seperate drt line imo and leaving the srt line as an emergency access line
  24. i ended up using a piece of throwline so it looked weak
  25. Thats the way it was in Auckland until about 3 months ago-all trees protected over 6m and consent required for any work removing limbs over 25mm diam. now its gone (new gov) and its a real shame:thumbdown:
