  1. same as marc here in nz-not supposed to wear them as no steel toe cap but if im climbin then i wear them. chainsaw protection is not mandatory in nz.
  2. try webbing instead of the rope for the prussic cord bro, it might sit a bit neater.
  3. it probably would work but i dont think they are designed or rated for single line work. should be sweet though
  4. yeah pretty much every day-ill pic the middle section for ya too
  5. Got my boots in august and wear them most days climbing. This is the wear on the toe of the boot and also the same wear at the point where the rope sits when footlocking. I think this is too much for how young the boots are, especially at nearly nz$450.
  6. same here rich, all my swivel does is increase the twisting until its almost spring loaded

there is a small vid on treetools with jono on the uni but its not much, well try and get round to making a proper one someday. This is the mods that morgan sent re the new uni.
  8. if your keen you could try the "heavy duty kernmantle splice", i think the instructions are done by yale.
  9. i agree bob
  10. not that i know of bro. im going to talk to some people who sew up dyneema slings and can do rope up to 8mm and ill ask them for you when i catch up with them.
  11. sit it really low on your hips bro, have a bit of slack in the leg pads, shorten the bridge a touch and shorten the leg to waist adjusters. but thats only for me, spend some time adjusting it and youll find it to be super comfy.
  12. its not easy mate.
  13. $35nz. its weird having a xmas tree inside when its beaming sunshine.
  14. if you bring in a non CE marked piece of equipment for use by yourself, does that still make you an importer? seems strange to me, i thought CE was for selling of stuff not use. This is interesting.
  15. waitomo is south bro. waipu is between aucks and kerikeri, about halfway.
  16. choke a rope guide around a knuckle?

hmmmm the unicender. Im still not totally convinced by it tbh. Its an awesome tool for srt work with ability to ascend/descend but i find climbing the whole tree on srt a bit weird as im so used to Dbrt. I dont like the uni in Dbrt mode as i prfer my vt/hitchclimber too much. If the work is mostly up/down then srt with the uni would be ideal. pm Jonno as he uses it everday(i think) to get more details. The newer version does address some of the problems though as its got a pulley to guide the rope in better and it traps the rope better. The uni is hard to put into words!
  18. yes mate ive gotta pair! very comfortable, very grippy, very pink. quite slippy in the wet though bro and mine are wearing very quickly but i suppose thats the downside to the soft rubber.
  19. spiderjack set up in an o rig .

    Bowline Redi

or this way........... just wrap your fl pruss around the branch and clip your tail onto the non-vt side uphill of the redi so that you can pull the spliced eye back to you.

    Bowline Redi

yes bro heres one i made earlier-it uses your fl lanyard and 2 revolvers spliced onto a short prussic. it acts the same as a rope guide really and just takes a bit of a shake to get the 2nd revo to pop through the bight.
  24. Spent the weekend at Waipu Caves, this is an amazing place if your ever over here on holiday. Totally free, you can just walk into the caves system and go as far as you want/ dare. After about 5mins of walking you turn a cnr and the whole cave system is alight with glowworms-i really wish my camera could do it justice! hundreds of thousands of hanging threads from glowworms act like fishing lures. very very cool and the campground is also free:001_smile:
  25. my hitchclimber started making the same noise and no amount of graphite powder or oil would stop it but it was 2 years old so i just replaced it.
