  1. I'm going with geoff on this trip bro, myself and jono smith are charged with setting the ascent and descent to go get the amazing photos of the lava lake. If I don't get time to update here, Treetools | tree climbing, rigging, pruning and safety equipment will be have all the info - I hope.
  2. No bro I'm off to ambrym volcano off vanuatu to film the active lava lake. Hopefully setting a 450m zip line into the crater. No one has ever been inside it before! We will live streaming 24/7- once I get the web address for this I will post it here. This is going to be so epic:)
  3. Cheers guys. I lifted from facebook account- if I've given you access feel free to take any of the photos. I'm leaving on a volcano trip tomorrow morning so really haven't got the time to do anything myself sorry- I'm away for a month so I've got a heap of packing and planning to do!
  4. Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah i was over as part of the international comp. The asia area climbers are awesome guys/gals to hang out and climb with-total sponges for information, they just want to work real hard and learn lots. It was a bit different climbing in 37 degree heat and 500% humidity (slight exageration)but not much))
  5. Heres some photos from the Singapore Championship i attended last week, maybe of some use to you steve.
  6. nice work gents and ladies
  7. Use a throwline, srt or footlock to anchor point, leave the spikes in the truck:)
  8. thats the same weekend as the singapore comp-hope it all goes well at the welsh tcc.
  9. How much is the nz price going to be roughly bro? Need something that will cope with the Auckland downpour but also some rough bush missions. Macpac stuff is brilliant but is a bit pricy for work. I'm interested in seeing this- Adam you coming up to auckland for the nationals?
  10. My stein stopped being wAterproof after a couple of good downpours but the fit is good
  11. Does the basic use the link pulley then?
  12. Is the basic still available? From memory the basic is beeline prussic loop and the primus is the cam with integrated shock absorber.I think.

when you see the damage that the wild pigs are doing to the ground around the kauri and carrying the pathogen its hard to believe that humans are increasing the disease much. That said our gear was cleaned before we went into the bush and cleaned on leaving the bush. THese trees are up to 1500yrs old and have seen this disease before and will see it again-personally i think they will ride it out and become a stronger strain because of it-i may be wrong but hopefully this vid might make some of the public aware of there sheer importance to NZ and so more research gets done in saving them. but thats just my thoughts on the subject, others will differ.

above my spliced main line peter ive whipped and stitched about a foot above. this stopped the ball sliding down-the ball is also on elastic not cord so that it grips the rope better

Wow, cheers for the comments guys. Barefeet-this is to protect the tree and its many lichens from our boots, kauri hold a fantastic array of different trees, liverworts, lichens, moss, orchids and we dont want to stand and destroy them-you never when a botanist may want to climb and study the tree at a later date and it wouldnt be a good look if our boots had just scraped a500yrold patch of epiphyte off. and its also quite nice climbing barefoot on a nice day. The film was shot by a pro camera crew over acple of days-the major pain is getting the gear into the bush and set in diff trees-we had portaledges set up in variour trees, etc.. The purpose was to help get finance for our mission to do all of the ten tallest trees of NZ. cheers

yeah i actually reckon 2 ropemans wil work-you could tie the leash of both of them together so they both undo at the same time. The only downside is that they can bite on to the rope a bit hard and this might make opening them a bit harder-as the cinch is smooth inside this doesnt happen. ill have a play tomorrow

not sure peter but the way the cinch makes it work is that the open ropeman makes the cinch open when its pulled-you could tie the 2 ropemans together and piggy back off them but ive never tried due to the cinch working so good!

on the green rope peter? that just falls through the cinch and the whole set then stays on the line via the HMS crab or on the tachyon? yuour holding the tail the same as when you retrace your prussic through a crotch. is that what you mean mate?
