  1. i think a few of the bigger companies here in nz now want to see what you can do before signing you up, before they would take you on your word and offer you a contract based on what you said. Sending some short vids would be a real good idea. I know Asplundh are also looking for climbers and maybe flying to the uk soon to do some interviews. Once you get yaself to NZ though, youll get a job with an arb company pretty easy from the sounds of it.
  2. This is my RG that involves no splicing and can be made on site (if needed). The stitching is just to hold the eye together, its not any part of the strength. The safety backup is the 2 fishermans knots on each end. The sirius is 14kN so doubled up like this its way strong enough. I have yet for it to get stuck and it pulls out so easily-the trick is the specially made cap for the cocoon and the small bit of tubing for it to run over-i reckon the pinto pulley will work sweet with this too.
  3. How its set on my lanyard.. nice and simple just pull the pin to release the lanyard

    simple srt.

id just buy the croll or kong futura (or any chest ascender) and run a tree frog setup with what you have. Ascend on a specific access line and keep the lockjack for your working line. would that work for you bro?
  5. Yep that's one, cheers jonesie. Pricey:)
  6. Wichard make a quick release that works a bit better than that one, it releases from the middle instead of the side. I've got that te side release one my harness as it's real handy for holding the exta length of my lanyard. The wichard release is pretty damn pricy though. I'll see if I can get a pic, I think sherill sell them as well as boat chandlers
  7. Free climb:)
  8. heaps more pics at Day One 2010 NZ NTCC photographs now on Flickr
  9. Jono and Zane climbed this tower and let flares off, the pics made it into the National paper and nobody complained.epic

    Klima-Air

i had the tyrols and used to wax them every month or so in winter and they lasted me 4 years.awesome boots.
  11. 2 pics from the recent NZ champs
  12. Personally I think having an installed access line solves all problems. I'm trying to get used to having one in every tree I do now- normally all that involves is leaving my srt line inplace and workin off a seperate working line.
  13. And that's o for awesome.
  14. Yes mate!!! Was an awesome 2 days of climbing, a great little comp with some awesome climbers attending. Both Scott and Chrissy had good masters climbs with a cool amount of spectators watching. NZ breeds some truly awesome climbers. Awesome.

    ISC eiger

Cheers guys, I thought the thimble would be needed. It's to be part of a rope guide I've been asked to make omitting the cost of the art pulley. Might just have to wait fir the pinto pulley instead. Thanks for the info

    ISC eiger

ISC Eiger Small Pulley *Rope:* *<13 mm* *Strength:* *36 kN *Weight:* *90 g Specifications Swing-sided micro pulley - able to be easily installed mid-line. Constructed from high strength aluminum alloy and designed for 12 mm arborist rope. Stylish anodised finish. Minimum breaking strength a whopping 35 kN and only 74 mm high. Unbelievable strength for its size and weight (only 90 g). Each pulley is 100% inspected for quality. Useful additional pulley in the Hitch Climber system. Approved to BS EN 12278. Made in Wales by ISC. What are the opinions of splicing directly onto the sides of this with one eye? Is it coolto girth hitch a webbing sling directly as well? This would turn from a swing cheek pulley to a fixed version-has anyone tested it and k ow o the results? Cheers

Above was regarding the mini portawrap. We will have asaps on seperate line that is attached to portable winch. Our lines will be attached to 5-1 system to enable us to be hauled out(slowly) if heat overcomes us etc..

I think about 50kgs when hanging straight plus friction once it's touching the rock, so not overly massive amounts of weight

I'm a big fan of the trango cinch too but we wore through these too, again the alloy is just to soft- if they made one in stainless steel it would work quite well, but we also managed to wear through the stainless wear point inside the cinch. Like you said, I don't think anything will work well due to th nature of the task.the fig 8 twisted too much also

Totally useless bro with that much rope. Jono wrote one off in 2 days on the last trip, the alloy cannot cope with the abrasion from the scoria. Pretty much wore through the bottom bar which was a shame as it was brand new. Thinking the ab descender and the petzl stop is what we will use along with an asap on the safety line.
  23. I'm no fan of the stein helmets either. Too hot and seem to fall apart.
