  1. there are two in this months Forestry Journal, both 1000's one at £7.5k, the other with a timberliner trailer for £10k +vat
  2. guess that doesnt come on freeview
  3. Hi Joy, just been speaking to a local land owner about thining his larch woodland, i will give you a ring
  4. worm drowning heathens nice fish, used to do a fair bit of coarse fishing but move over to fly fishing now, keen to try for carp on the fly though using the highly detailed "bread fly" or "dog biscuit fly"
  5. First off Andy, sweet bit of a jump up from the atv logging arch going into the firewood game then? of just for moving milling timber for the 090? guess it will be handy for transplanting larger trees as well, having used the canadian road system up in the mountains round Vancover, the timber lorries are a huge and regularly are involved in fatal accidents like one a week at least, i must admit i would rather have our set up than one where there a that level of fatalities
  6. sounds like the saw could do with a retune rather than alter the mix! if your unsure ask your dealer to set it up on a tacho
  7. diesel and petrol options i was told at a demo about 2months ago, although they did say in fairness the petrol was the better option, i will dig the sales leaflet out
  8. Ed, i think it was in relation to Marks 1st post see below I have used family in the past, but always pay them back ASAP, that way they dont have a hold over you for to long, there are some of my family i would be more worried about borrowing money off of that a loan shark
  9. we have a stihl hoover on the farm, really good, only problem we have found is the bags are damded expensive
  10. to add another thing to check, the fuel tank breather, mine had similar probs, would it restart if you open the fuel filler cap?

i have run a 260 and 346 in oak and ash, i now own a 346xp just my opinion, if its for light felling work, then in my opinion the 346 has it,
  12. im on my second one now, never had any bother with them found them fine for bouncing round in the landrover, tractors handy for checking emails and internet when out and about

  14. you could always just get a htc phone like mine which has windows mobile, thus removing the problem of having to convert files
  15. maybe but its also a legally binding contract, as mentioned all over the place in small print, so i would chase ebay, i dare say you wont get the trailer, but ebay will cause him some agro I fell out with someone that pulled a listing a few mins before the end, and i was high bidder, and he must of realised he wasnt going to get what he wanted, he was a plant dealer and had about £30k's worth of kit on there and ebay closed his account didnt get me the tractor but will have caused him some agro
  16. similar grants in the midlands, especially for sustainable fuels, unfortunatly biomass chip is eligable but logs arent, so i could get a 70% grant for a huge biomass chipper worth tens of thousands, but no grants for log splitters costing about £1500
  17. pole lathe spinning jenny
  18. I agree with Andy Clark on this one, request the information via the freedom of information act, they have some get out clauses, but none of them should be applicable in this case
  19. I love the Esse stoves, when my rayburn eventually dies i want an Ironheart as they look great, really nicely finished stoves by the way we have a couple of scrap hunters at the farm, the metal doesnt seem to be that great, i would stay away from them,
  20. there have been a couple of 1174 and 1184s in classic tractor over the last three months, worth a flick through the adds if your local newsagents has a copy on the shelf
  21. mines a machinemart clarke regal, was about £290 last winter and its ace! looks nice, has good controls and the firebox is well made and solid
  22. try mister solutions, sorted out my scrapper re-builds for not to many pennies in the pastStihl MS 200T & 020T chainsaw give them a ring
  23. really this i have to see, if your refering to the oxford uni papers by laura bonesi about 3yrs ago these have been rubbished by the uni mink are fierce, otters wont very often kill a mink, 75% of road kill otters show signs of fighting with mink (EA/Cardiff uni post mortem study), they will never out compete them a species as they occupy very different niches. In the work that we (RSWT) have carried out we find mink signs drop off when otters are present but it doesnt mean they arent there, i have trapped mink in cages with otter spraint on top of them in the same night, if otter territory is optimal and drops below 20km then the mink just spend more time terrestrially which means they are very difficult to track and trap sorry this is one of biggest misconceptions i come across and unfortunately its a hard one to get people to break, I spend way to long trapping mink on the riverbank (had about 140 in three summers though )
  24. i split for myself and maybe sell the odd small trailer full, and i use a fiskars splitting axe, which does a great job, plus i enjoy the odd bit of axe swinging
  25. I split my alder into lengths as soon as possible after felling, normally i can split 12" dia trunks in 3ft lengths in one hit with the axe, once its starts to season its a bit of a pig to split
