  1. these were taken with the camera basic settings just set to macro, i havent played with the finer settings yet, i just love the detail its getting compared to my cheapy camera, i hadnt upgraded in the past as i didnt realise that the pentax film and digital lenses worked together, else i would have had one sooner, rather than having the lenses set in a box for about 2 years,
  2. they are made by stihl i have the edt 7 which does 2 and four stroke, and will work by impulse, so you dont actually need to have it clipped to the spark plug just hold it on the top cover of your saw is normally enough not cheap mind part number 5910 850 1009
  3. new toy (sorry should have said ) is a pentax k100d as i have an old mz-50 35mm slr that i havent used for two years as not wanting the hastle of films, so bought this off ebay and went and picked up thursday night, i love it so easy to use, i have a sigma macro lense i have bought with it, to go with the old 35mm lenses i have (thats why i went for pentax) i have a 80-320 telephoto, a smaller lense i cant remember and this new macro lense, I have a tripod, but didnt use it on these pics as the camera (not the lense) has a built in image stabilisation system that can be turned on and off, all pentax lenses fit all pentax cameras, (some features not work) but they will all fit, so i didnt have to replace my lenses the small B. inquinans is actually only about 4mm tall
  4. and finally a pollen beatle in a bean flower its great having a decent camera again, especially one with a macro lense

Gymnopilus penetrans (rusty wood rotter) coming off this Larch tree
  8. surely thats worthy of cracking out the 090 for the felling?
  9. i have found that if i put unsplit stuff under plastic it doesnt dry well, i generally put split lengths under a tarp and within about 3-4months, cut it to length on my saw-horse, it burns fine like this but left in the round it wont dry properly, I am currently cooking and heating water on alder that was felled in march, and it gets lovely and hot,
  10. i got a ms192t when i was out there as they have autumn promotions about septemberish time, i got mine with freebies inlcuding: one of the big hard carry boxes (for a normal saw) some stihl dvds, a timbersports cap, two bars and chains, I also bought a SH85 blower/shreader total bill was about £180 for the ms192 and £150 for the blower (that was a present for my old man) I boxed it all into the blower box, wrapped it in brown parcel tape and bought it back as luggage, as i had only used one case for the way out
  11. cos i have the ram mount already for my gps, and i will be using it for shooting with, so it would be handy to have it close to hand to move, i could just by the dedicated ram mount spotlight but that about 630,000 candlepower less than my lightforce, i could always take the two of the landy and put them on the quad also when you fitting the beacons to the top of that light bar?
  12. i need to find the right size mounting ball so i can put my lightforce spotlight on my ram mount on the handle bar, this is what you really need on it RAM Mounting Systems UK - Drinks Cup Holder - RAM-B-132R
  13. phew i was starting to panic and get the sweats from withdrawal
  14. ha ha ha nice bumper!
  15. I am at work, just from home, trying to do paperwork, organise a mates stag do, chase fencing contractors, explain to a landowner how his cattle have destroyed the habitat of a protected species (watervoles), trying to order a digital SLR as my camera has died so i want another decent one. and im going fly fishing later on if the weather eases up a bit
  16. can drop it in for a fortnight if you want it between 4th and 20th september if you want to borrow it for a go as im down for a mates stag do and then wedding so can drop it of no bother,
  17. i think they do seem to favour some people over others i worked up near Aviemore for a bit and some of my colleagues were getting several ticks a week on them, i didnt get one in four months! but it was scary put something down in the heather and within a minute it would be crawling, wife did a study into tick abundance up there and caught a field mouse that had 116 ticks on it, that was nasty, I hope you get over it soon,
  18. first entry is a block of wood on a relatives farm, where i occasionally help out second and third have been been posted on here before but anyway are of me felling some sycamores into a river as part of a habitat improvement project (i like the fact that they managed to get the splash of the tree hitting the water, i never got a copy of the photo where the my mate got the hight of the tree wrong and had to leg it as it started to go over )
  19. cool, i really like those, especially the elm, i really should get some more milling done and bits made up, i have some small bits of oak that im tempted to make some a small table out of it, might have to get the mill out this week again,
  20. Matt, i hope they picked up on it quickly? i have on my medical file that i work in areas where lyme disease is present so if i get rushed in they know to test for it, did you get the big bullseye around the bite?
  21. i think its a flipping joke (i will moderate my true views on it), so it why bother with B or C+E, i can go and get a fast trac or mog and start raging round the road network at high speed with no more than a normal driving license with an artic dolly and 40ft trailer, i can get on and drive a combine on the road with yep just a normal license, this law is stupid, and serves only to generate more pointless training. on the flip side in 30years it mean there will be very few caravans clogging the road network up
  22. had the dealer chuck a set on the bike as part of the deal so dont know the cost, seem good, handle reasonaly well on the road, even at say hmmmm a bit above what i should be traveling at they do seem to be wearing well considering they have done a bit of road work and running round sites on tarmac, i just cant merit an aggresive tyre for pulling the flail round with else it tears huge chunks out
  23. those are a pretty aggresive tread pattern i use these: Cheng Shin C828 Wildcat Tyres - ATV Services Scotland definatly better than dunlops get good grip pulling up hill without destroying to much turf when i mowing, or hauling wood about, it will be interested to see how they handle in the woods this winter
  24. er does that need re-wording or is your mate a tea leaf?
  25. the electric brake assembley kits arent very expensive from the states, do they just act on the brake light circuit, through a relay to a 12v supply from the battery or does it involve more wiring than that? also how would i go on, using a braked trailer on the road whilst not wanting to exceed the 750kg limit, are their braked 750kg axles out there?
