    bats!

dont forget that putting an endoscope into a roost would require that you hold a bat license from natural england first!
  5. Cool, in the UK? who will you be using, someone like pennine helis or PDG, i know which one i would be using, also make sure your not planning to lift over any utilities/public rights of way as far as im aware none of the UK heli lift agencies have insurance to do this, unless the road/PROW is closed, you will also need to be pretty flexible in timings as as you can be all set up on site and get a phone call to tell you the heli has been diverted to somewhere else in europe on fire fighting duties (so winter work is the safest bet) Its not cheap work, but defo get a initial flight to confirm route, lifting and drop sites etc, as these guys arent normal passenger pilots and really now how to swing the heli round in a hurry (freaked me out my first time up in one, as he got about 15ft above the ground and put it hard to the side and went out over the reservior sideways )
  6. i just get broadband adverts, telling me i spend to long on 'tinternet i suppose
  7. prefer -30 to plus 30 any day of the week love frosty mornings would love the golf stream to stop so we end on the same weather as N Canada, nice and comfortable in summer and freezing in winter, lovely

    Bio fuels

i run purely aspen in all my kit, husky 340e, 254xp, 372xp stihl 192t, ht75, 084, FS420 dont have a problem with any once the carbs have been retuned on some of them, so the age of saw doesnt seem to be a big issue if its well tuned only downside i have found is the exhuasts seem to be rusting a bit probably due to the lack of excess oil being burnt also it doesnt deteriorate like petrol, it will still be fine to use after years not months, I also run stihl bioplus oil in all my saws
  10. I was thinking around the £5-6 pound mark as there will be a fair bit of work to get each m3 given the small diameter, I hadnt really thought about fence posts etc which is another possibility that may well pay better, i will contact one of the local timber yards next week to see what they require and would be willing to pay, as im not out to rip the guy off i want to offer him a fair price, and get as much for him as is possible, without leaving myself no margin.
  11. I have the chance to buy some larch thinnings/clear fell this winter, its had its first thinning about 15years ago and has such been left untouched so its full of windblown stuff, its mostly small stuff probably between 8-12 inchs and about 45ft tall, its only a small block (maybe 3acres) so would be looking at hand felling and extracting with the ATV, or a mates tractor and forwarding trailer for the clear fell sections So my question is whats the value of this like to be per m3 standing, for end use as firewood/chip for small domestic biomass, access isnt bad and there is a hard-standing and possibly barn i can extract it all into, the crop is pretty dense but just of a varied quality where it was never managed properly any guidance would be really helpful
  12. i know of a couple of small stands that look like that, i thought it was due to the fact they had been sprayed with SKB over several years had stunted them, maybe not after all
  13. i have smaller huskys but prefer the bigger stihls >75cc i have an 084 and prefer how it feels to the 3120 but its the other way around with the smaller saws cant stand the smaller stihls, so in answer to your question i like both but if i had to choose one saw only it would be my husky 372xp
  14. Wetekom Moisture Measuring Device 0-60% from Westfalia at our Measurement technology inside the Electronics shop just got thi came through by email and thought it may be of use to some, think its about time i got one really
  15. couple of questions, is there anyone on here running a 346xp New edition (silver sided one) if so how do you rate it, im considering chopping in my 340 and 254xp to get one, im only looking to run either a 13" or 15" bar on it as anything bigger i will use the 372 on and secondly anyone using saws with the heated handles how do you find them? I have a bit more work coming up this winter where i will be using the saw most of the day eg coppicing and firewood and just wondered if its worth the extra? it would also be another box ticked on the RA cheers Charlie
  16. always used eley .22 subsonic hollow point, i have found it groups the best in all the .22's ive every used, only downside is its a bit soft for cycling my remi semi auto, will not cycle about one round in 15. its also the quietest .22 sub available I have saved all my brass from the ammo i have bought so i have a good supply of wincherster supreme brass now. I had a few boxes of 75grn ammo and found it didnt stabilise properly, you could see where the bullet was going trough the target sideways on, but 115-117's seem perfect, the stabilisation is probably due to me have the barrell shortened so the round only has two rotations to stablise as the barrell is only 20" long, just the right length so the T8 finishes about half an inch infrount of the stock
  17. good choice on caliber, I have mine for fallow in open ground in east anglia and find it fine on fallow, not sure i would want to be on big red stag with it, but like other comments have said, its where you put the round, i use 115gr ballistic tips in mine, super accurate, think they are about 3500fps? so have plenty of energy, i think it drops 16" over 350meters or there abouts
  18. anyone else going to this? would be good to meet up with anyone else from the forum going Charlie
  19. what mod are you going to fit? i have a T8 on my .25-06 and its crap, other than as a barrel weight to prevent muzzle flip

have you got a part number? i have a front handle of a 372xp sitting here doing nothing dare say it only fits the 365sp and 372 but if you can get the part number i will check (its a new handle as i swapped mine for full wrap when it was new)
  21. er south of the border you can use .22 centerfires on munti's and roe now as well from last september as i have a .223 for munti's
