  1. I'm in need of some bits for two onan T260g engines as fitted to older toro mowers. Can't find any UK suppliers of parts and need service kits for them as well. Any suggestions gratefully received.
  2. [/[/[/] Here is mine on skids I tow behind the iron horse or atv cost about 20quid in bits handy for small burning jobs like rhodie or gorse bushes on sssi sites
  3. Speak to the commission Eddie as they have one coming into the churnet again shortly. I will send you the contact number of the chap to speak to
  4. Try HRJ Gould's 01889 578999 they were advertising artic loads a week or two back
  5. you'd need the front and rear loaders on at the same time else you wouldn't be able to steer the bike my Honda is a handful with a 90ltr spray tank on the front let alone a steel loader
  6. was this a forestry commission woodland grant scheme? as it should be eligible for SPF payment as long as the work was done under an RDPE funded scheme. If however it was planting with funding from someone like woodland trust (non RDPE) then you cant claim SPF on it.
  7. had a play with one on a couple of occasions and they are a handy bit of kit, didn't strike me as overly robust and very small (I think I would be worried about loosing it) you still have to be a known distance from the tree for it to work accurately. it has the benefit of taking the calculation out of using a manual one like my suunto manual one. There was someone doing one with an inbuilt range finder at Elmia but I cant for the life of me think who it was, as that would really take the leg work out the job
  8. really that's good as most nfu policies only cover trailers upto £1K anything above that has to be listed as extra equipment on my policies, It says trailer cover but the small print normally has this £1k limit so that may be worth a check on your policy documents.
  9. NFU are the cheapest normally but shop around between local branches as this can make a huge difference, I saved about £400 a year on my policies by dealing with a different branch!
  10. I would strongly suggest trying to arrange a site visit with NRW to discuss your proposal or at the very least get a copy of the site designation notice for the woodland so you can see what its protected for and what condition the sssi is in regarding this. If its designated for very specific species or ecosystems then this could have significant impacts on your proposed plans especially on such a small site
  11. I would say that's a very good price for that set up, you will pay nearly that for atv trailer without a crane
  12. we run a few of the 15ltr versions 425's (as they have a wider pressure range), great to use, robust and very comfortable for doing spraying for long periods. You wont go wrong with them really
  13. yep applies to all farmland that a subsidy is claimed on. GAEC is Good Agricultural and Ecological Condition. which is essentially the cross compliance documents
  14. Those are the new rules that apply to anyone claiming basic payment scheme (single farm payment) if the land is farmland then yes this applies, not trimming of farm hedges or trees as per the GAEC criteria
  15. Just a heads up to any agents and contractors who this may affect. From the end of September 2015 the FC will not be able to pay anything based on hourly or day rates due to a major change in EU funding rules This means agents time (hourly) and craftsperson rate (day rate) are disappearing so if you have on going EWGS Woodland improvement grants its worth making sure that this doesn't affect you. I think in most cases that your woodland officers will be in touch if it does.
  16. Having run, operated, maintained and owned fair bit of the smaller scale kit, and this is my most sensible bit of advice on the subject, buy a 4x4 tractor ~(or big alpine) and smallish forwarding trailer
  17. Sounds like a great opportunity, especially the adding value to the timber your working with, I hope you find someone that you can work with Doesn't everybody?
  18. EWGS standard costings for roads had been removed as all infrastructure has to go through the woodfuel wig based on three quotes now rather than standard costs. The CD mentioned will give an indication of estimated costs per mtr which is more realistic than the old standard costs.
  19. If you speak to your local FC woodland officer, as part of the woodfuel woodland improvement grant seminars they were running last year there were giving out a CD with a spreadsheet on it. It was set up to help calculate rough costings for different road and ride specifications. I don't have mine else I would send you a copy but it may be worth a call to your local FC office
  20. I have a 084 parts saw with a new in box genuine top end and piston that I may be interested in parting with, just need to source two bottom end bearings and it would be a cracking saw, or if you just wanted the entire top end drop me a pm Regards Charlie
  21. I have the little echo cs270 wes, If I had the choice again I would by a 150 as its night and day better than the echo but there is a hefty price difference
  22. do you have this on a 3pl mounting? or is it mounted to the machine directly? I have one sat in the workshop, but was told by Wilsons they don't make a 3pl butt plate for it so its sat in the heap of parts to get sorted, I thought from my measurements it should drop straight on the butt plate for the 5t double drum? as the head bolts are same spacing Used a tajfun 4.5 and igland 3.2 impressed with both, especially the pull on the little igland for pulling over some big back leaning larch, tajfun was on a small alpine and great for skidding hardwood thinnings out. I would think parts back up and follow up should be a strong consideration. Out of interest did you speak to A and B or just Wilsons
  23. may as well grab part number 1124 650 7700 Matty its the roller chain catcher decent upgrade from the standard and has a nylon roller so your chain doesn't take as much abuse if it comes off on long bars
  24. The creation of open water habitats on Chartley is actually to do with some of requirements of the sssi designatory species which use the site, not just because of the geological interest. some of the species found on this site only occur here within the county. So it's a very important site to get management correct on. regarding the op basically get kit that floats on lots of tyres or brash mat / bog mat your routes well using low ground pressure equipment. Lots of good advice in here probably the main one is have plan b ready to go
  25. There is a fencing instructor at Stafford I will pm you his contact details later on.
