  4. i may..... but i shouldn't have to, this is why i posted
  5. I'd also like to see a chain on the fuel cap
  6. While on the subject of design flaws of the 150 (sorry Jeff) I have noticed that the black plastic cover over the rollers on the off side likes to collect debris from the rollers which builds up and ends up jamming the rollers slightly open, although it is a quick fix it can still need doing 2-3 times in a day which can be a bit of a pain. It can be remedied by removing a small strip of the plastic lip which curves under the hinge.......I guess
  7. I've found frogspawn in an ash fork before, i put it down to a bird saving it for later. if it was spawned there i wouldnt like to bump into the frog on a dark night as it was about 20ft up!!
  8. we were being supplied with these, they are rubbish...the shop we used said they were compulsory but since then we have been getting decent chains in from another place. If they are all you can get it takes 5-10 minutes work with a flat file to get them looking like a good chain but they still don't do the job quite as well
  9. If someone's been operating for 5/10/15 years without incident why should they have to do a test/assessment to prove they can work without incident? (I've got both.....I didn't pay
  10. definitely keep an eye on it, seen bamboo sticking out of each end of a 14" bandit....I found it a right pain. Sharp blades and keep the revs up!!

    iphone apps

on safari go to TVCatchup iPhone, go to bookmarks and add to homescreen, not an app but suprisingly good quality. the apple remote app is good if you use itunes with a stereo and your a bit lazy. fungi is an ok ident app although i think it needs a bit of tweaking in how to search. game wise i like harbour master and fling, although fling gets really really difficult after 10 levels.gti racer is quite well done too. There are a few HUD (heads up displays) where you can put your phone on the dash and your speed is reflected onto the windscreen, it also warns of speed cameras and beeps if your breaking the speed limit, not really that useful but good to show off your phone and shopshop a handy little shopping list app

These little speakers are amazing, the battery lasts ages and the sound is top notch for the size! 13. been away, sorry. This has turned in to a bit of a global warming thing, which seems to happen between politicians and scientists in their debates (not solutions but is it really happening and why), the way i see that is if i put a large paddling pool in my garage, with some coral and fish, a couple of small trees and a few blocks of ice then started my saw, i'd probably last about 10 minutes but then have to get out of there, i figure the world is like this but on a bit of a larger scale (I like to simplify things quite a lot) I guess it may be a bit cold in siberia for mushrooms, but i figured if the permafrost is melting then the temperatures in that area are above freezing and so long as they don't die then they wont release the carbon they're fixing. So how about in Indo? its a bit of a problem there too, would the mycelium fix enough carbon to be worth planting the stuff? Doug I appreciate its a natural process but i think we humans have accelerated things so much that every possible way of reducing methane, co2 etc release should be being done, and as we are obviously not going to reduce the burning of fossil fuels anytime soon then we need to combat the natural processes.
  14. I've just been reading about this and it sounds quite worrying and cant be disproved by whoever as it is basic chemistry, this got me worrying what will happen to these levels if the siberian permafrost melts and how the release of co2 could be best combatted. I remembered a post a while back about mycelium and its ability to use carbon in its growth processes(it was a utube lecture vid) and was wondering if any of you clever fellows out there might know if planting the stuff around the permafrost it might use the carbon as it becomes available from the freeze?
  15. these ladders are very very good...and i hate ladders!
  16. looks like chris richardson (north cornwal) to me, used him a couple of times a few years ago so i might be mistaken

    I like it!

Saw it for the first time yesterday......never seen revenge quite like it:w00t:
  19. I think Glen has done a good job on that there tree! reducing is sometimes the only option for some clients and we have to respect what people wish done to there property, a large tree like that can have a massive negative impact on some peoples lives. I do love hitting the ground after a day doing a large reduction and it looks spot on...although the whole tree shape thing I disagree with, in my opinion a reduction should be based on the original shape of the tree. I also believe that reducing/pollarding is a bad practice and if a tree has reached a size appropriate for the location it should then be kept at that size by way of small pruning cuts of any overextending growth whenever the tree is looking to increase in size (right tree right place obviously gets a look in here). Unhelpfully lots of property owners let a tree grow much larger than the ideal or move to a property where trees are bigger than they wish and therefore are forced or choose to have more major work done to a tree, while still trying to maintain it. Maybe felling would be a better option for the future of the site but also unhelpfully we humans grow old and die much faster than most trees and we find larger trees (generally) more impressive and aesthetically pleasing and so don't see replanting a small tree a good option, maybe if an oak reached maturity in five years and stayed healthy for 600 then felling and replanting would be undertaken more often! As for pollards keeping us in work, absolutely they do! and we have to maintain our tree stock here in Europe but I dont see the need to do first pollards anymore as treework in this country has come on in the near past and there are enough skilled climbers to be able to do work on trees which doesn't lead to reactive growth and there is enough money spent on council contracts to maintain trees properly. I find repollarding repetitive and uninteresting and maybe my time would be better spent rebuilding the countries rail network, saving the rainforest, carving something or even having a rant on arbtalk...... (if people are confused by my views i think that street trees should not be pollarded anymore and work done on privately owned trees should be decided by the arborist after considering all influencing factors, tree health, owners needs, targets etc)
  20. 25m 3strand and a spliced 3strand prussic....what i was given to climb on in NZ 3yrs ago!! I did get a really uncomfortable harness (with leg loops:001_cool:) and a couple of 3way crabs mind you
