  1. the only knot that can be tied mid line for pulling tight both ways and allow an offset pull If heavily loaded can be awkward to undo relatively easy to check tied correctly very useful knot probably mainly used in tree surgery when applying mechanical advantages or offsets Tied mid line
  2. versatile knot used by the majority of tree surgeons Easy to tie generally tied mid way on a rope Probably the most common way to attach a saw to a climbers rope. Taught on climbing courses. One to learn:thumbup:
  3. taught in the boy scouts still as a basic type of knot simple and effective easy to tie not a knot I would use in tree climbing but certainly in general life
  4. Generally the next step up from a prussic loop Generally taught on courses as a stand alone or as part of a 3 knot system. Needs a Stopper knot can be tied wrong easily Very Versatile

    Prusik

The most basic and generally the beginners friction hitch. 99% of climbers start using this 100% would be able to tie a prusik The simpliest most versatile knot in the Arb industry Foolproff Easy to tie Easy to identify as tied correctly Bomb Proof Although I thought it was spelt prussic:confused1:
  6. has been known to be tied wrong some use the yosemity tie off but thats even worse if not tied correctly DOES need a stopper knot I find it easy to undo and use it when either using the other end of a rope or on a rope with no splice
