  1. If you want a fibreglass handle fitting, try these guys, http://www.visatools.co.uk I've had various tools re-shafted by them, various types and lengths and all still going strong. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Cheers H will keep my eye out. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Belting if not knotty, knots burn well though😏 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Yep sell rings out and keep the nice straight roundwood to go through my processor. Once I've enough stockpiled I'll sell the roundwood at rdside, but that's forestry not arb. At the end of the day I'm only in business if people by my services/ products. If I can clear the yard, or better drop it off before I get back, and put money in my pocket then all good to me. After a bit head scratching I've worked out a volume / weight calculation. I can sell rough lumps / rings at about what I get for roundwood at roadside. Customers happy, yard is a bit clearer, money in the pocket and I'm not humping rings on to a splitter, just whiz zing poles through the processor. Struggling to find a downside. 5. Links not as I expected! Follow it and use the pull down to find Cumbria test proficiency committee. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Have a word with Kath, she'll be able give you some contacts and possibly dates. http://www.nptc.org.uk/centredefault.aspx Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Here's some thing to help clarify, http://www.ntta.co.uk/images/tachograph_chart_l.gif The grey box is an exception that may apply to work days but IMHO not to log deliveries. One of the exceptions on the .gov site that may be applicable, depends on how you classify log delivery (supplying solid fuel) vehicles used by agricultural, horticultural, forestry, farming or fishery businesses for carrying goods within 100km of where the business is based I know from personal experience that my local planning dept class log production as an industrial process and neither forestry or agricultural - much to my disappointment & expense. 8. John what quantities you after? Always getting Oak that's too good for firewood, but usually 2-3 lengths at a time. Got a long (15-20') 18-20" looking for a home, with more to come at the same spot. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Not me govner, Sarki Tamang had a big job down there the other day, so probably him ringing up. Yep it's me with the Oxtrac (new version of Forcat) at Greenodd. Also got 95 hp alpine tractor and winch which can be better option in certain situations. Lunchtimes or after six is best for catching me, no chance of hearing the phone over the 660 screaming! 10. Someone's gotta work in the rain hodge, might as well be me. What's the longest bar you've got for those those big saws of yours? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Milling a 30" oak butt with a 660 in Windermere today and a couple of days next week. I'll let you push if you want😉. Or you could drop in on the way home as I'm based nr Greenodd. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Weird is my normal, stops me getting too bored😴 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. I don't just work in trees. The lids concerned are for paying clients doing a bit of manual on charitable building/refurb events. They pay my wages, least I can do is make sure their kit doesn't smell like the back end of a donkey. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Pop the muffs off, quick jet wash inside & out, dunk in non bleaching anti-bac, quick wipe and spray for the muffs, then dry & store. Like I said, nowt to do with real world tree work, apart from the colour! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. I thought they made you housewives choice, twenty years younger and immortal ! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Adam, My situation is a little different to yours. If the helmets concerned where being used day in day out I doubt they'd get to two years. The helmets I'm concerned with are cleaned after use and dry stored out of UV. Hence the extended working life. As for oil spray, I have my doubts that veg oil is particularly corrosive to plastics, but I'll get on to Lyon to see if they've an opinion on it. The question I posted doesn't mean I'm gonna let my inspection regime lapse to a 10 yearly slam dunk of the old helmets. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. This has been prompted by a change of advice by Petzl, they now give a max lifespan of their helmets (depending on type) of up to 10 years. Anyone know if Husqvarna have / are going to do similar?. At present I'm operating on 3 or 5 years depending on helmet makers recommendations. This all goes out the window once they've been run over/dropped out of the tree/used as missile when the tenth tree that day gets hung up etc etc. Protos users - whats the lifespan on your firemans helmets?
  18. I got the base spec 08 rodeo and its not bust (yet), despite dragging nr to max load regularly. Has had a clutch kit and rear suspension bushes but I ain't gentle with it. The last dent was from dropping sideways into forwarder tracks and clipping a stump, end result was a dented sill and some fun getting to a hard spot to climb out again. This is my 2nd Isuzu pick up and unless it out lasts me, i'll probably replace with another Isuzu. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Try a length of chain with a clevis hook on the end. Thread through the 4 loops on the bag and slot the chain into the clevis. To lift, slide a fork under the ring of chain you just created. If not, then the bigger lift rings should slide over a forklift prong, speak to clarks and get a measurement. Option 2 get a lifting ring with a threaded stud on the back, drill to desired position and fit with a spanner when needed. Down to you if you want fixed chains in the loop or a removable fabric strap. http://www.wdsltd.co.uk/product/4164/hoist-ring-wds-695 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Try these guys, http://www.bsflpackaging.co.uk Or I've about 50 spare (vented fabric all round) you can have for a small fee. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Try solway recycle or your local farm supply spot. Have relined a hi lux with it, downside is that it expands a lot with the weather this summer. Perhaps fix one end and an expansion gap at the other? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Cracking the flags here, farmers are rubbing their hands and getting a bumper 2nd cut of silage cos the ground's dry n dusty. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Type the landline number into google, all the entries that come up are Sanbach and some mention B'plant by name. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Invoicing & paperwork then processing F'wood in pm, on to fixing the mower and some more firewood ( filling my own shed this time). Playing tennis, and a film with the kids sat am before a few more hrs on the processor. Sunday is mowing (if its fixed!), and out on the bikes with the kids, before waving my wife goodbye - week long business trip to HK. Monday back to work. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
