I was told that the village would be shut for four hours, I think 20 mins covered it. I have to say, live and let live. Their is plenty of other stuff to agitated about!

They go through the area where our lass comes from. It passes by so quick, there is no hassle! I drove down the road and not a marshal etc in site. No bother at all! While I'm no cyclist, they have every right to use the road for their sport and angry drivers get up my nose as they delay they might incur is so minor as to not be worth bothering about! Chill out next time you see someone enjoying their sport! Do you get the hump when the football or rugby is on and crowds roam the streets too? How about the numbers of folk leaving a concert or other such event? Chill....

Pictures please and location, local estate we do a lot for are after one as he was cursing not buying my one earlier in year. KTS is Keighley Tree Services, north west of Leeds City. The Walbank Family. Years back, Dave Walbank had some 4x4 trucks, possibly Volvo, with Farmi chippers close coupled and driven by the truck. He also ran GreenMech Safetracs and was very early into seeing their potential for rail work. Top people!

Could be the solenoid valve sticking half open, or half shut if you are an optimist!

The shafts for our units has an overrun on one end and a shear bolt on the other. The shear bolt is a cheap weak link!

I have to say that, and I'm not 100% certain, the Kelfri and the Woodland Mills devices do not comply with the regulations for infeed chutes. I seem to recall that the infeeds on power fed units cannot slope downhill. Setting aside the length of them and how the controls and safety bar works. Okay, the chipper Police are not going to hunt you down, but, using or selling a non-compliant machine is another matter. I watched one supplier show a non-compliant machine at a show and when I quizzed him - he tried to BS me that the manufacturer was changing their design to suit Europe, but I doubt that they would for 20 units a year! TBH, he was the type of 'businessman' who wouldn't get my money for many reasons....

Be careful importing machines that are second hand. In some areas they may have different transport legislation requiring trailers to have their own identity and papers or, in some cases, the infeed controls have to be slightly different from standard English stuff. In all honesty, it may be better for you to by a new machine locally, okay, it will cost more, but you will then have the support of the local seller or importer and by buying a machine which complies with the law. I am responsible for the small stock of units that GreenMech have and I have had to turn some business away because I am not always able to provide registration documents.

I would always advocate the use of original parts sourced from the original source. Buying Soares from your local dealer, whatever to make and model. Non original parts can void any warranty etc. Fair play to you for trying to increase your business activities and good luck to you in the future.

This thread was started some years ago by Stevie Blair from Scotland after he got a CS100. He realised that these small machines had a valuable place in the equipment made for tree surgeons etc and he also named his machine 'Gloria'. The thread has been a useful resource for information/comment/jest ever since. In Scottish vernacular, 'wee' is used in place of 'small'. The English language is a varied, complex thing!

I feel for people in the queues, but, it is inevitable that with any event with large amounts of people arriving or leaving at certain times then there will be a line of traffic. I would ask that you are patient and understand that a poor gentleman died last year at the event and it highlighted the need for a different, more rigourous plan. This may not work but it needs to be adhered too. I understand that the local Police may also dictate a traffic plan based on their own view too!

Did you buy it like this or just noticed that something ain't right? What were the springs attached too? You appear to be missing a square block, quite possibly of cast steel that carries the bearing for a start. The bearing inner race appears to be left on the shaft so I would think the the ball bearings had disappeared through lack of grease and the housing has been left in the road somewhere! Ask for a manual off PSD, the current importer, Google Gibson's of Colne. Not sure where they are at the APF.

Anyone know a builder well enough to ask what the going rate would be for 30m wall, 6" high? I am considering what to do about the 30 odd year old wooden fence - seems to be at that age where posts are rotten so is the feather edge - a painted breeze block wall would do....

Get the serial numbers of both and check with the importers for history. Check out that both comply with current H&SE regs and that both are in a condition that you are comfortable with for the cost. Remember that you are also buying a fully loaded trailer so those components need consideration too. Once you done that, go with the one which makes your bell ring! Enjoy your choice!

Looks good enough to have in any workshop. I'm not a fan of the water based degreasing stuff. It went smelly and mouldy in my old washer. What stuff do you use?
