  1. Yup, he would do a good job! Newport, Shropshire way and knows one end of a spanner from another.
  2. In South Wales, there is a TW dealer for a start! Other than that, there is a number of people who could do it, as it is only steel, nuts and bolts!
  3. DCM! Not heard that phrase in a year or two!
  4. 18hp is listed at £4640 plus vat. At 200 kilos, get long ramps and a little winch to make loading easier. Maintenence is a doddle and they are very reliable and productive! The GreenMech website will tell you who is your local dealer. They occasionally come up second hand.
  5. In the day they were! But I'm not sure if the controls comply with current H&SEE spec.
  6. Hi Rachel, glad you got a road tow and glad Jase has responded. Better advice than I would have given as I would have said cheap old 15/40! I wouldn't bother with an water trap filter but fit an inline as you can see if crude is being sucked in. Give me, or Jase, a call at any time, 07774 282481. Sorry you couldn't get through 1st thing, I know that Jase is on holiday and his 2IC, Nick was helping someone from Hong Kong this morning. BTW, Orange don't do GreenMech, go to Lloyd Ltd at Throckley and get your spares from them.
  7. It is going abroad and they quite often have a tow hitch in the rear cross member rather than a drop plate arrangement on bigger trucks.
  8. An old boy and his elderly wife who lived in one of the best properties in Kegworth always had us around to do stuff in the garden always tipped best part of half a bottle of scotch in a big teapot with strong tea to fortify us!
  9. The Green,Grey and White is for the UK and the electric yellow is bound for France.
  10. In chain terms, a clutch is the little dangly thing that you use to drop a chain link into, it clutches the chain and holds it - a way of shortening the chain length to something more useful.
  11. Choke chain and clutch and lots of in and out of cab!
  12. The official line is yes, depending on colour. Some clients who buy for a fleet have a Corporate colour and we factor that into the costs, if the powder is the same cost as GM green then we have been known to let it happen - we should charge but, heyho! 25 odd years ago, they did mine a Post Box red to match the trucks I ran at Barrowcliff's and charged me £400. The difficulty arises if they ever need a panel replacement, a change of colour for small panels is a pita!
  13. Those were from last week and these were going through this week. The white are for Germany and the Yellow is for France.
  14. Spotted these on the way through the place last week.
  15. Does happen! After all, we are pretty well all working for the capitalism ideal of work and get rich! We all want to eat meat at the weekend.....
  16. Is this a case of swings and roundabouts? Wine is cheaper in France? Etc.... I confess to having a "hate" thing about Amazon. The idea than they can make billions here yet flick fingers at us all by not paying their dues prevents me from having ought to do with them! It isn't the Government that they are shafting, it is you!

    Driver CPC

I got told the other day that the Driver CPC has a doubtful future - indeed, by the end of this year it may be history! Anyone heard anything else? From what I understand, most people who have been on the course say that the only benefit was to the Training and Certification industry!
  18. Is there a "checkatrade" for accountants? Or a 'Moneytalk' forum?
  19. Surely VAT registration means that while the tax is chargeable on all your sales, the amount that you pay in your purchases is reclaimed against that! Being unregistered and selling stuff isn't a way out of paying or charging value added tax?
  20. The comment on a vat free purchase is a worry as vat should be charged on everything (excepting the exceptions), all the time and on every occasion.
  21. Don't know the front axle set up, but Landrovers can get king pin castor angle issues when worn, this can cause an issue but felt through the steering wheel. Or as said, check your uj's
  22. My first was an Arboreater back in the late 80's/early 90's. It cost £10,500 + vat and you can get a better machine, new, for less than that amount! I would sell you a new GreenMech 130 for £10,350 - Platts at Darley Dale are not far from you either.....
  23. Sorry, was looking, or considering just renting the processor.
  24. Apparently, the DVSA only are bothered with what's on the computer, not how much fuel etc. It is a fairly new phenomenon for databases to be linked and isn't a leap of faith for it to be real. I know of a VW buff who had a van and that is restricted but the Camper version of the same vehicle (and same weight) is not. A German colleague is of the same opinion of what is happening in their spot too.
  25. Rent in. I need the exercise, fed up of shite sawmill offcuts that father in law gets, just considering the options of getting a load in and cutting with a processor rather than a circular saw bench and then splitting. Offered an artic load in the round at about £46 per tonne and working the sums!
