  1. I love your last statement/sticker. I have come across one on a GreenMech that said "Not to be operated by +*&%wits!". I would agree with you - heads in oven, fingers from spinning things etc. But, I'm sure that the current CE regs say something on the line of having a flat infeed chute (or sloping up) if there is powered infeed. The length of the infeed also counts, as does the height and operation of the control bar and function of the controls. One point (whether you care or not, see the relevance or not) is that the discharge chute should only rotated by more than something like 270 degrees and not be able to be turned and pointed towards those feeding the infeed chute - irrespective of whether it bangs into the tractor! I'm not knocking or mocking you or your product as there is a place for everything and not everyone can afford or need a quality, British built, fully compliant 'chipper. Personally, I would not give it yardspace anymore than I would promote a big chainsaw with a chainbrake and AV cage...just saying...
  2. Hmmm. I'm not sure if I agree. Some of it is, now doubt, suited to the market that that price aims at. But, having studied a couple of things on the woodchipper front, I would run a mile (and I don't run for nowt!) from it. The woodchippers arrive on a flatpack with instructions and youtube video for self assembly it said......How do you know that these things are CE compliant? Are they? what about reach distances, what about infeed controls? What about safety features? Sorry, I'm not convinced..... I had heard of someone recently having a life changing accident in a non compliant woodchipper - your arm does not grow back........
  3. Welmac in Lincolnshire used to bring in a branch logger. I have a client who has an old but little used chipper but it really needs a grands worth of safety bar to buy and fit! Make sure that whatever you buy does comply with current H&SE regs....
  4. I’ll not say any more at this point Stuart. I’d think that there is a proper investigation going on to the whys and wherefore and so on. Further comment wouldn’t be wise!
  5. I understand that a very recent accident resulted in the loss of a limb, and no amount of "my risk assessment says....." Or "my method statement says....." will make an arm grow back!
  6. Nope! It is nowt to do with the current argument of 'in, out, shake it All about!' but health and safety issue and those tend to cross boundaries! What we make here has to comply there and vice versa! There are 'local' issues but are more to do with trailer ID and transport regs but, by and large, use regs will be very similar. Quite often, suppliers and manufacturers have to keep a watchful eye on 'duty of care' and insurance claims!
  7. Ummmm, I think I read somewhere that woodchippers with powdered infeed need to comply with a set of regulations. These include the height and length of the chute, safety bars and angle of the chute. Could be wrong but I didn't see any on that Lumag! Caveat Emptor!
  8. GreenMech chutes still unbolt to fold over the bonnet. Take a look and give the picture to your engineering friend. That would make it easier to store!
  9. Everything has a place in the market Mick! In the day, they were a decent unit, slow by modern standard but it will find another level!
  10. Many happy returns Mick Dempsey, hope you have a good day!
  11. I added one to the back of my new style Ranger. A lot of vehicles have one light only so the other side is in the dark usually, which can make reversing a trailer slightly hard work! I wired it into the bulb and not the trailer light socket which was easier and nearer. If it goes to the trailer plug, any reversing sensors will not function!

    Instagram?

Who uses it? How do you rate it? Tell me about it as some of this digital age stuff is new to me!
  13. Are they Bridgestone? Standard fit when new....Backs show no sign of damage but the fronts are definitely damaged! Might see if the manufacturer has a clue!
  14. Old skool me! Brought up in early LandRovers, grey fergies and Fordson's. To move the wheel, you roll the wheels! Towing with junk in the back means not much nose weight. Jase, go and eat your porridge!
  15. 55 in just over a week! Feel it sometimes. Mum and Dad gave me a telling off because I suggested that someone would come and collect them for a weekend stay, "we are only 80 odd, not decrepit, you know!" Old bugger still had two bottles of white on Saturday night!
  16. These are on a Ranger, on of the GreenMech tow tugs. About 30k miles in six months, without using the 4x4, mostly towing. The fronts look like I drive on broken glass but the reads are fine! Anyone got a clue? Will be swapping them corner to corner to get the most out them but curious about the ripping treads!
  17. Spotted when I went to the factory to do an instructional video and had to dig out a tracked machine.
  18. Mitch, what do you want to do with your winch? Tbh, electric would be best, mounting is key and the battery would be okay with the engine going. The rest okay still?

  20. I often wonder what happened to mine, it came out thrice in 17 years, usually to get a leaner stood upright! I remember my Uncle David wrestling it on to the back seat of his Vauxhall Viva in the 70's to get a Wellingtonia out of the moat at Bronsil Castle for his sister's family when they were tenants there! When 'a job for the monkey winch' was on, there was some excitement in the offing!
  21. Could have sworn that was.......no, I done that bit already! what happened to the flap on the chute? Where dit goe? Isn't it too short without it?
  22. We brought them in before Major and then Predator. Decent stuff, at under 32inches wide, it was narrow enough and the 27hp made it a tad more powerful than the rest at that time. What tips is it running? One piece castings?
  23. Think Balmers, the GreenMech dealer at Burnley may have something. Call and ask for Thomas Balmer, I'm pretty certain I saw an old TW in their yard recently.
