  1. If there ain't a new one, why sack Predator? How's things at ARborcut, have you got Midlands chipstar CE rated yet?
  2. GreenMech have a few machines there, go and see the MultiTask forestry mulcher on the Zeppelin stand
  3. Cold ham, salad and chips with a lid of tea. Oh, and still cleaning up cat gronk!
  4. Are you showing your new one (based around the Predator) at the AA show at Ciren?
  5. I'm in. Down with this absolute shower, lets replace them with another load of free-loaders who want an easy life claiming absurd amounts on expenses which we give to them to shag are lives up!
  6. Are they as soft as the ones fitted to the grinders flogged by Redwood?
  7. Started in 82 as a labourer for a holiday job for Uncle Dave. In 99 my last duty as Managing Director was to shut the business down as we lost the big earner to a national - that squirts! Went to work for GM, so still around trees and tree people!
  8. Any bin or going to this event. I went with a view to making an exhibit of meself. It looked like a great family day out, fun fair, carving, mushrooms, old balls, horse logging, Axe men, climbers etc But to be honest, not enough potential buyers to attract machinery exhibitors in numbers. Fuelwood (splitters and processers)were there as was Phil Alderson (Haaki processors), Burgess' (flogging stihl and lawnmowers), Husky and a couple of others, John Paul Williams was there from ProArb showing his capabilities as a contractor. (Nice GreenMech 1928 safetrac JP!) But it's more of a day out for fun. What gets buyers to shows to make exhibiters there to make a good event?
  9. Nice Mog, shame they had no sense of pride with the chipper!
  10. I've had a Rodeo for just over two years, got mid 30s mpg most days, down to about 22 hoofing it towing a big load. Its done over 120k miles and had 4 tyres, 2 wipers and by the book service only. The new version has the 2.5diesel which they tell me will give better mpg and at motorway speed, revs less. The interior is also supposed to be better. Size wise, any crewcab is not going to be any better than a saloon car, I struggle to get in mine with big boots on and its not over blessed with leg room. Plenty tho for reps rubbish and the kids. When mines up to replace, if we get another one, I'd look a bit more at hard tops, mines crap and the firm that supplied it aren't worth recommending!!!
  11. My U1000 was reving to about 1450rpm in thou speed to get the green light for the "no stress" device to work. in 540 box the engine was nigh on flat out to get the green light. I prefered thou as it was quieter and used less diesel.
  12. GreenMech 202 on an uprated U1000 ran at thou speed. Did the bizz.

    New guy

Hi thur, welcome to the trade, great fun, occasionally good money, fresh air and exercise. What more do you require.
  14. Pork chops, chips and green beans with gravy. Followed by a glass of white wine.
  15. Take your Knott unit off and take it Tto Indespension, whilst your there, get some security blots that shear the nut of orf when at the right torque setting. Then the rum uns cannot unbolt your hitch complete with barrel lock.
  16. What about the AA show @ Ciren. That's not too far from Worc in my terms!!!
  17. As an Ag tractor, no ops licence required. A previous post was spot on, buy too cheap and you buy dear. Parts can be ludicrously expensive. Remember - it has a three pointed star on the bonnet same as a Maclaren Mercedes. Great fun tho' and priceless performance off road and as a tool to drive things, chippers, flails, toppers, grinders, the only limitation is the depth of your pocket.
  18. I'd be very tempted to stretch myself and look to getting some finance (if books and history check out) There is little worse than buying too cheap. Send me a PM and I'll give you an idea on our finance packages.
  19. Split my thumb down its length on a circular saw. It's now about a centimetre shorter, with no mid knuckle and no tendon to pull the pull the tip up. Scarred from the bottom of my palm, up the digit then down t'other side. Had six inches of stainless rod inserted to keep the bits together while they stuck. Hand looked like a pie crust for a while and the knuckle was a skinless sore for a month. Eight weeks off (self employed and not insured) then light duties for another month. Did that in '83 and it is still painful if banged and I cannot eat a chicken drumstick anymore.

    Good cup of tea?

Strong, little milk (green top) and two. Best if it has a reddish hue to it. Milk in last as well. Coffee as above but milk in first.
  21. Check the tractor is up to it. A lighweight rearend could get ripped off, also check for previous abuse on the drive cogs, mine was ex Pickfords on a Major. Drive cogs were spun a tooth and more out, so under extreme load could spin out of drive or bust out altogether. My brake was pretty inefficient too.
  22. The local lecky co found out that two up in their Landrovers fitted with winches and loaded with all the kit actually overloaded the front axle loading so that is why the appear to travel in singles all the time.
  23. very correct. Check your linkage!
  24. Put a meter in the circuit and dead end it. that will give you an idea of pressure, you could have a weak "blow off" valve, a dying motor, pump or the spool is not going to position. The mog might be at fault with not enough oil in reserve and is overheating and getting as thin as water.
