My earlier quote about Jonesie and his prices..... Sorry, I was wrong, George Carrs sold a mate an MS200 with combi can @ 355 inc vat. Jonesie at that time was 375. The comment was an observation not a criticsm. Everything has its worth, I just wonder what Stihls thoughts were.

Got home very late last night after breakdown. Going back today to get more off the stand and also go to Hednesford Raceway for the pre'68 banger racing. I,ve attended all of them bar one (got married, wished I'd been at the show) since 88 and they all have their merits. Some of the demo circuit was sparse and quiet but with tools like Pete Lords Jenz chipper burning 800ltrs per shift, then demos are a tad expensive. The truck mounted Heizohack chipper got sold for close to 300k euros. We sold some chippers and the TW girl got leered at, Jonesie upset the trade for selling his gear too cheap again I had three hangovers. Standard Show. Nice to chat to all that came to the GM stand and nice to get home.
  4. Man made structures, I do not like! I went on the small Ferris Wheel at Rushcliffe at the weekend with my son and that gave the heebies when we rocked the seat at about 20ft! Jeez - big cojones!"!!
  5. The GreenMech really requires upwards of 55hp at the shaft. If you've got stacks more, run it at 1000 speed. that gives reduced engine revs and better economy with less engine noise.
  6. Amen to that. Can you set up my new phone, it has awful ringtones?
  7. Hadn't heard you called that!
  8. Gob too small, back to high, too small a saw (more power) should have bored it as well. I always cut mine of at the floor, not waist height. Was it on tube because he was proud, or as a lesson to others. Wassock!
  9. Steve deleted the thread as it was a tad provocative. So no names mentioned, but if anyone has pictures and prices, post them.
  10. A couple of strong rumours from a recent trade exhibition seem to show a fall out between a manufacturer and dealer. The dealer is apparantly going to introduce their own version of a tracked grinder and also a new chipper which has many similarities to a British made machine and a German made machine. The manufacturer is using their foreign contacts to come up with a similar design of woodchipper to combat this new threat. Anybody got any pictures, or prices for these new tools.?
  11. Loads, you should have been there!
  12. Let me make a call later on today. I'll pm with any results.
  13. Still got an 088 (loaned to Beacon Trees @ Breedon on the Hill) and got an 090 in the garage (has AV but no brake). Haven't lost faith in Stihl yet.
  14. 500NM! Strewth, you'll need a champion pie eater hanging off a long bar for that!
  15. 310nm? Are sure? Thats VVVVFT! Artic wheels aren't done up that tight, you'll be very close to pulling the threads out the bolt at 310!!
  16. As a subbie, what is he not expected to cover if even damaged by accident. It's your money he's taking and it's your reputation!
  17. I've watched both episodes and it is a bit of an eye opener. Fascinating stuff really, but is "big brother" watching you already?
  18. If my memory is right, there are rumours of a tracked grinder to be introduced by Redwood (along with the new chipper) is this correct?
  19. GreenMech have been agents for the Laski range of grinders for a few years now. On the whole they are not a bad tool. Same as any machine, it has a job which it can do perfectly well, I can honestly say that they have been reliable and generally well received. I prefer them with the standard cutting head rather than the Multitip head. But, not having used one with a fifty pence peice, my opinion is therefore biased.
  20. GreenMech use a countersunk M16 and nylok at 150nm or about 118ftlbs. Thats about vft.
  21. I did, fairly early on too. I've been in chipper sales for about 8 years - previous to that I owned three of them. But I try not to be too pious - people chose their kit for many reasons and I try to respect that. I try not to openly deride other makes when threads do (see TW blade bolts thread, no post from me). Life is too short to get upset over choices.
  22. I'm interested in Steve's comment about biased opinions from us shopkeepers. How would you, the buyer, feel if whilst having a demo of a machine had the rep slag of his opposition rather than put forwards the usp's of his machine and the benefits of buying it from him and his company? Would you; a. not buy that product. b. tell him that his sales technique needs working on. c. listen and believe him.
  23. 7.5 tonners do not have to be the generic Iveco favoured by tarmac gangs. There are smaller chassis cabs available that can be rated as 5-7.5 tonners. If I went back into treework, I doubt if I would look at a Transit. (I've only had 9 in the past) After seeing what else is available and how other people operate I would really consider the alternatives.
  24. Yes, I have had some strange demo's and heard of weird usage before now. One was on the TV as part of a TV advert, a breakfast TV programme had one to shred rotten fish and blowing at someone once, tobacco leaves, chicken portions, shellfish waste, Bomb Disposal have two, newspapers, cardboard tubes, plastic tubes. Hey, a buyer is a buyer!!!
  25. In our current range we do a sub 750kg machine with a 6x9 inch opening and a 34hp turbo diesel. The turbo thingy keeps the flywheel thingy spinning good. As per usual, it will be at Saltex, APF, Weald Woodfair and available for private viewings!!!
