  1. I used to have the Iveco 40.10 4x4 that went to George Walkers at Syston. They've since sold it on. Should have been about £30k back in mid 90's, but got it for under twenty. Slow on road, capable off road but with no real capacity. Looked the tool tho'.
  2. try the GreenMech 1928, far better than a 540.
  3. I generally do not get hangovers - I just feel monumentally tired. Years of practise seems to have cured the problem. 12 bottles of barley wine = 24 pints of beer in one sitting did make me feel a little tender for two days, even the hair could not fix it. A couple of good rules are; 1. Never on an empty belly. 2. Stick to the same poison. 3. A satchet of resolve before and after. 4. Plenty of vitamin C in the morning.
  4. In some ways, I would liken a GOT to an old fashioned (now extinct) "Brickies Labourer". Doing all the other work to enable the skilled to lay bricks and blocks. The more that got laid, the more pay the Brickies got - the more the Labourer got. All about piece rate. A good mate (and former groundie for me) kept three brickies busy and got paid a third more than me, the Boss of a tree surgery company. Same as climbers - some are good, some are mediocre and some ought to be encouraged to Sainsbury's to stack shelves. A good GOT is worth as much as a climber - I was a better groundy than climber and it worked well. I ran the business and kept the sites organised and the climbers were happy (I hope). Dont put them down unnecesssarily.
  5. Spell cheque dunt wurk!
  6. I think I would've gone home!
  7. Nice to see that the lead assesser for a prestigious organisation that leads this industry can spell!
  8. Good luck with the op. Here is too a speedy recovery. Best regards.
  9. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Trailers/ There you go!
  10. Someone asked me to sign another No10 petition. This one was to have some kind of legislation regards to trailers having regular official check overs, something on the lines of an MOT. On the one hand I agree having just found three out of four tyres with blebs on them but do we need another peice of bureacracy when common sense and self awareness is all that's needed. On a trip around the rep's patch today I counted more trailers with poor lights, then good. Missing number plates etc, poorly loaded units and one guy who definately had forgot that it was on the back of his Transit. What's your opinion. Test or no test?
  11. As I'm useless at house plants but can grow spidery legs on potatoes in the cupboard, I ought to have a go at Bonsai. I'm in - cheers Steve!
  12. Sausage, eggs, chips and beans. Possibly followed by a tin or two of Stella.
  13. Sorry to hear of your loss. I'll keep a watching brief on any PX deals, but to be honest, I'd not hold my breath on getting it back. Probably abroad already.
  14. If you put that on a 3 ton swing, I'd run and hide. Too small and not enough power through the standard aux circuit.
  15. Home grown new tates (cheers Mum), belly pork and rocket salad (Thanks again Mum). Might have a glass of wine to follow.

    AA @ Ciren

Anyone know the visitor numbers for the AA @ Ciren this year? What kept everyone away? Was it fuel prices and the APF in september? Does this mean that Saltex will be poorly attended by the trade? Did you stay at home to watch trooping of the colour?, who won the 24hr Le Mans?, what was the Isle of Wight gig like and who went to the Download Festival at Donington Park?, what was the Summer Nationals like at Santa Pod?
  17. Well done, any advice on getting kittens to gronk in the box, not behind the TV or near my bed? My old Alsation used to go in water at the earliest chance, even diving for bricks at the bottom of the brook. He fair stunk at home at always made a right mess of the kitchen.

    4X4 Tippers

Welcome to the site. Any LandRover/Santana might claim to have room for three upfront, but they are very thin people who are happy in each others company and do not eat in the cab!

    Darwin Awards

Just got hold of a copy of The Darwin Awards by Wendy Northcutt. Check out http://www.darwinawards.com to see how tragically dumb mankind can be. some are tragically funny, others just show what a strange and sometimes unfortunate race we can be.
  20. Liver 'n' onions, mash and mange tout. Hey, is chips n gravy a northern thing? Can you still get roast Cow's Udder in a bread roll at Doncaster market?
  21. Last time I saw a chipper from ESS, it did not comply and it got a write up in Horti Week!!! I'll check them out again at AA. Why do we have to take machines that comply and are CE rated, but some others get away with it without the organisers of these shows pointing out that you cannot show equipement (of any kind) if it contravenes some legislation or other. Gripe Gripe Gripe etc.
  22. Pork steaks, chips and a salad folowed by a glass (or two, think of the units) of a chilled white.

    cannon d-slr

I've run a 400D for about three years now, fitted with either the standard 18-55mm Canon lens or a Sigma 70-300 zoom/macro lens. I went (as advised) with a Lexar Prof 2GB 80x Speed card which allows something like 420 exposures. The camera is so simple, my kids use it and the software is extremely good. Cost about a little bit more from the local camera shop but got it all inc bag and skylight filters all in one hit.
  24. Looking forward to the AA to see all these new toys and ask questions about why they sacked the Predator and the various other "issues" which could go legal. Don't ask, don't get!
  25. Dagmar You spend too much time behind the screen! You defo need to get out more. I like it tho - my kind of humour!!!
