  1. It was sold by GreenMech as the STM25-18, I preferred the hydro drive to the electric drive too. It was a good grinder with plenty of poke, with a slightly bigger cutting head with a couple of extra teeth. Narrow, but not too so that it was easy to tip over. The biggest shame was the Laski cutters were not the same hole centres as Vermeer or Rayco cutters which were plenty cheaper. Easy enough to get the head cross drilled to accept them tho'.
  2. Just fitted Kaspersky 2010 as recommended by the confuser supplier. Had previously had the Virgin package that that let a trojan or two thro'. The Virgin package is a homologated version of Kaspersky.
  3. I went to deliver a micro chipper north of Newark this morning, then spent the next 4 hours getting back to Nottingham pulling people up slopes only to find that there is no snow to speak of there or in Shepshed! (20 odd miles)
  4. This issue of "not pulling in" is often asked and it happens to all woodchippers with a "blow off" valve in the spool block. On a GreenMech it is set to blow off at 3000psi, if the spring in the valve looses a bit of tension, it will blow off at a lower psi. Get it checked and re-set then replace the big spring as they can also loose their "pull".
  5. Yes Alan and the Team at Beaver are good folk, yes they are now GreenMech dealers, yes they will still service and repair any make of chipper, yes the shop is good for kit and yes they gave up the Jensen thing as did many other dealers because of the pricing structure. No Steve Barnfather doesn't work there anymore and I try to help sales with "cold calling" (being a pain in the ass) when I'm in their area on their behalf! Also, was it widely known that..................................No, I should not repeat that as I cannot get B on the phone!!!!
  6. I'm driving down to see my Ma and Pa in Chard, Devon, they are off out to a party and I intend to get Tom and Pip (my kids) down to Lyme Regis for a walk along the Cobb and watch the fireworks. The other year I took them up The Beacon and watched the fireworks over Loughborough and Leicester. Far more memorable than getting ratted and spending money on an expensive hangover you cannot wait to get rid off. Happy New Year to you all, however you spend it!
  7. Good entertainment - shame it ws all a bit staged, apart from the look on James May's face when Jez bumped his car!
  8. Many Happy Returns Shreks youngest son. Hope your christmas's are goodones. Best regards to you all.
  9. Beautiful photographs-well done for posting them when the weather caused so much misery to a few people in Basingstoke and reading. We have had no snow in my part of the midlands.
  10. Shame really that someone was doing their best and but for an unfortunate accident could well have suceeded. We have all taken risks at times and just occasionally we don't win. RIP and condolences to his family at this time of year.
  11. if you've bought a Pred 450 for 7k all in, I presume thats a tad under £6,100 plus vat. The old GreenMech price list for the same machine was £5,950 plus vat minus any discount. They are good machines tho!
  12. I miss the Landrover thing! The smell of a Landrover after a trip across the mud is very evocative. I've had a 109, 110 V8, 127 CrewCab, 130 Crewcab,130 Single cab (Ex LR Special Vehicles) with dropside body and a Range Rover LSE. I learnt to double de-clutch in the first Land Rover to be registered in Herefordshire on a farm that was part of the Eastnor Estate, it was used there for some 35 years before it got sold off in the mid '80s. One of my crewcabs had a capstan winch on the front driven off of the crankshaft via a dog clutch which for some reason kept coming undone. I asked a mate if he could get one of his staff to tack weld the gland nut in place - he seamed it so I bet is was a bugger to rebuild that engine!
  13. Mary had a little pig she could not stop it grunting she took it down the garden path and kicked it's little $£%& in!
  14. Very sad news. My deepest sympathies to his family.
  15. Is it possible to re-chrome wheels where the band is heavily pitted and the centre is alloy? Don't know enough to comment, any idea of cost?
  16. :scared1:310NM......Blimey that is tighter than tight, we use M14 or maybe M16 (24mm spanner) and they get done upto 150NM. They don't come undone or shear and 310NM is a good fifteen stone on a six foot extension!!
  17. Two years ago I got my lad a plane, he nearly took someones head off in the park. It has spent more time broken than working! I'd love one myself but you need to be really coordinated to fly a dear one. Good Luck with the search.
  18. Fantastic Christmas for you all!

    Iveco Daily?

I had a 35.10 4x4 version some 10/15 yearsago. Old ones were not that good, lousy cab, underpowered whn carrying loads and towing. But capable off road, costs then were about 28k new, but got mine for £18k. George Walkers had it after me, the next guy who owned it had it nicked!
  20. I'm dreaming about changing the wheels on my Hot Rod, the old ones have badly pitted chrome, and as the tyres (295!) need changing I thought I'd price up the wheels. What's the science to measuring wheels to ensure you get a price for a direct replacement?
  21. I've a magazine article about a brit who put the very similar tank engine in a Rover SD1. I want one!!!

    Jokes???

Got the sack today from the Salvation Army soup kitchen. All I said was "Hurry Up!, some of us have homes to go to........
  23. I would agree with that. Buying something that has done the rounds with a contractor will be nowt but trouble. There are loads of used tractors out there with 4x4 and to be honest, the system that you are using sounds adequate for the circumstances.
  24. Ten years or so ago, I had a GreenMech 8inch on my U1000, it carried it well and with the hp uprated to 125, we ran the Mog in 1000 speed with the engine doing something like 1300rpm. Top machine for me:sneaky2:
  25. I ain't no fisher but I reckon that I'd make a better job than he - what a laugh......
