  1. I always recommended that even air cooled machines need the fins on the pots blowing out or any residue left in there could induce hot spots in the barrel.
  2. Notts City Council have a big yard out near Colwick racecourse which is on the East side of the city. Give them a go.
  3. I have spoken to the people involved and the issues are being investigated and all options considered. I am away from the screen for the next days so I will be unaware of the posts on this thread or be able to answer any further.

Michael Large in Northern Ireland is the agent for them and really rates that stuff. Give him a call on 07831 831071 for prices etc.
  5. Nice truck too, many yards to the gallon with it?
  6. However he cannot take cattle to market on red as they are going for sale and he will gain directly from that journey. Yeh right! Look in any town on cattle market day and you'll see a plethora of tractors hooked upto trailers that have had a few beast or sheep in there.
  7. This slightly derailed the original thread for which I apologise. However, it does highlight the fact that many people do not think that Taco use is relevent to them. I too prefer the analogue unit over the digi stuff, but all newer trucks (under 3 years?) should have the digi unit which, as you pointed out - is always recording.
  8. Welcome to Arbtalk. Addicted to tree work? you sad get:sneaky2:
  9. Hmm, I wonder how many trucks have tacographs fitted and get used correctly? As for the suggestion of putting the thing on rest whilst partaking of a lid of tea, can that be done easily with the new digital units too? Not that I'm wishing to cheat the sytem of course!
  10. Give Alan a ring at Beaver, for a week he would deliver.
  11. Surely, when your a battle hardened rep then your working from the minute you leave the house/office, and driving is only a means of getting around you're patch. Apart from stopping for sandwich at lunch the taco is either on "driving" or "other work", either way it is work. So how could I get the most out the taco rules? What rules would apply if, for example, I did treework, left home at 08:00, had a ten minute break in the morning, half an hour at lunch and got back to the yard at 17:30. I've pre 97 licence and I'm towing 1.5t behind a Transit or 4x4. Should it have a taco in the cab? Oh, and I work anywhere!
  12. Our dealer in the South West should be able to fix it (especially if you tell them that the GreenMech rep says so). CBL have depots in Aylesford and Crawley.
  13. I'm single so I saved a fortune! Had the kids over the weekend so a bonus ther then.
  14. I have to confess that this whole Taco business starts to make me cross. I understand the need for regulations. It stops fools from watching the internet all night then driving a Landrover and trailer with load onto a railway line etc.......But why is it so rare to go to a motor dealers to talk to them about a truck and they totally ignore the Taco issue. I think I had 4 new Transits and one new Landrover over period of ten years (1990s) and not once was the Taco issue raised. Why do Jap 4x4 crewcabs not get fitted with them or have space for them? Who owns a 4x4 crewcab that tows a chipper, works over 30km from home who has a taco? I worked out the other day that if I want to drive from North Leicestershire to topend of Lancashire to "cold call" people I could leave at 07:00 but I had to be home by 16:45. I usually like to keep days that are about 12 hours long because I want to, not because the Taco is ticking.......It gets right up my nose that regulations stop me from working.
  15. I'm not too sure that a 2t chipper is a good idea. Consider what your gross train weight is going to be - with 2t behind it, how much chip etc can you carry? Not a lot I'll wager. a chipper at 1.5t or less would allow more chip to be carried. Whats the stand point on tachographs for this sort of set up?
  16. The Jo Beau grinder is 15k, Mike at Prochip is exploring the idea of being the dealer once a few issues have been resolved, or give the boys at Fletcher Stewart to see if they are still involved.
  17. I only know of two makes of "screw" chipper, Sasmo and Laimet. They absorb horsepower and make big chips which they use in Scandinavia for both biofuel and cattle bedding.
  18. To me, it has the look of a Eurogreen from back in the late 90's which has been "updated" to current HSE spec possibly.
  19. Justin, heard the **** news earlier. I'll warrant that over half of the members will be keeping an eye open for you and I wish that the perps get caught. Justice still would not be done tho even if the did. Best wishes to you and I hope the scum get the painful and messy death the earn.
  20. Might not be - if the shaft has gone or the pressed in bearing has worn itself a larger hole then it can be a BIG diy job. Post your query on the tecnical section and TW should get back to you straight away.
  21. If a solenoid just clicks the it may not be getting the correct voltage. If the hand pump doesn't appear to have any resistance then the valve might be still open. I would check the valve, then also check that the electricpump works properly. What is the trailor rated to tip? I have overloaded tipping lorrys by asking too much of them with too big a load. Were you trying to tip too much gravel for the pump to handle?
  22. The simplest way to found out how many belts any machine should have is to look at the top pulley and count the grooves, then look at the old belt and see if they have any ID marks such as PIX SPA 1100. Take that to an ag or groundcare dealer near you and they should be able to help you.
  23. Andy's comment had a load of merit, when things are tough then you have to be pro-active in looking for work. Years ago when Barrowcliffs was failing I spent and age (and a fortune) contacting all manner of organisations and potential cutomers looking for work (all to nowt tho'). The presentation of yourself and leaflet is the key as well as the prices. One thing I do find interesting in the various posts from this thread is that we all have to be pro-active yet many of us do not like being "cold called" by people looking for work or indeed sales! The guy who left the leaflet at my house draws my admiration for geting off his backside and looking for work he can handle, however, the missive showed a lack of knowledge of this profession and missed the key points that ought to matter. These may include brief details of your address, a local phone number, details of insurance level and so on.
  24. Stevie, love the hair! I bet it has been a long time since you had that much thatch! Last time I saw you, the tide was well out. LOL
  25. Give Doug Bennett a ring at Tavi Chainsaws - he has the experience.
