Celebrity! ?!

    Sorry, who is Katherine Jenkins?
  4. Tension springs can loose their "metal memory" and go slack. Check also that the chipper blades are sharp and the shear bars/anvil are in good order. If they are not in good order, chipping performance will be reduced too.
  5. 2nd that comment! From the point of view of an exhibitor, a trade show is pointless if there is no trade!

    Celebrity! ?!

Anyone else find this so buttock clenchingly piss poor? Not only did I not recognise anyone as a celebrity, the whole thing makes me think that many of the attendees should be prevented for procreating!
  7.
If she senses through the alternator, it still takes voltage pulses per revolution but more of them! If you have a green light, speed is being sensed (does it change to red if the revs are dropped?), so 12v should be sent to the solenoid. I'm no mechanic, but sensing through the alternator is many times faster and more reliable and it isn't a special alternator but I could not tell you how it works exactly!

If you have a green light and 12v at the solenoid, hold a light screwdriver to the end of the solenoid - it should he magnetised. If it isn't, then your coil maybe buggered.

cheers.

Sounds like an electrical issue. Check the wiring from the box, from inside, through to the Hershman plug on the solenoid. It should get 12v at max speed which drops off as the revs drop. The light should be green at working speed, if it is still red, it is not receiving a signal from the alternater or the sensor on the flywheel bearing depending on age. The sensor takes pulses off a bearing collar and should have a indicator light to show it is registering a pulse. The gap between the lugs on the collar and the sensor can be from 1.5mm to 6mm I believe. Try looking at these for a result.

Rich, I've forgotten my login for this section, please cut and paste this response. Cheers

  10. I spent about half an hour today quickly looking into prices of Arb Trucks based on a few quick web searchs and was surprised by the options available. Ford Transit Tipper with 100ps engine listed at £30K. Sprinter (similar size) was listed £29+k (okay, add body cost) VW Grafter Listed at around £29k (ditto) (Anyone add rough prices on 3500kg trucks?) Then looked at Fuso Canter chassis cab with 175ps engine(7500kg class) through Mercedes Benz to find theirs is around £30k for the 4x2 and around £32k for the 4x4! Going on that, why would anyone bother with a new 3500kg truck which at best carries 1500kgs when a Fuso could conceivable carry over twice that and more for only a little more outlay!?! The Fuso people will be sending me some non-brochure photographs soon and I'll post them up.
  11. Daily Smile!
  12. Allelys look after the GreenMech lorries and take care of our tacho requirements. Some years ago, Maurice Allely, the founder was telling me that they shift a lot of trains and when a train load stone derailed in Lancashire/Cumbria, he had 27 artics just to get a crane onto site! The do general haulage all round Europe including stuff for us too. Their yard is littered with stored trains and fancy trailer kit but the transformer stuff stays at docks as it is too much trouble to bring back to Studley, Redditch.
  13. Any daft or or interesting pictures that you may have - dump them here!
  14. Hi Jim, Balmers in Burnley are the official GreenMech dealer, however, we have always accepted blades for sharpening at the factory. You send them in and we will crack test them, sharpen the set to a balance and get them back for a reasonable fee. Failing that, blades sharpening instructions are free if you want a local engineering firm to do it!
  15. Blimey! Feed at idle, but stop at speed? Try reversing the connections! Has someone been messing with the machine or did it just happen?
  16. Good result.... Shame that they will get off with a stern ticking off and let go only if they promise not to do it again!
  17. As he says... Get the serial number and ring the original supplier/manufacturer/importer. Don't be afraid to walk away. I recently had to tell a chap who brought one cheap that it was cheap for a reason, it was someone else's!

    Jokes???

My ex said she likes a man with a big dick and loads of money! I told her she was wrong! She needs a tighter fanny and to get a job!
  19. Top Truck! My 06 averaged around 35mpg, did 266,000 miles as a GreenMech tow tug and after 5 and half years we sold it to Cyprus for £3,500 plus vat! 120k on BFGs wasnt bad either!
  20. Cheers for the info, I'll look later.
  21. Never seen any of them from start to finish. TBH, the genre doesn't light my fire. One "Star" film I did enjoy and found it emotional and thought provoking was about a spaceship that carried plants, trees and stuff from a dead earth. I seem to remember that the humans on board left it with a small robot to care for the plants forevermore!
  22. If Action Man was still popular, the "do gooders" would want it banned as it promoted war or racism or some such!
  23. Good graphics on the Mitz, what will she carry?
  24. I got the XP and it works well enough although it has frozen a couple times restarted itself. Buggered if I can find a good case for it mind - every rack is iphone or samsung!
