  1. Best wishes to the family and colleagues of the victim. I hooe that they recover well from their loss. I have trained an awful lot of people on the safe use of woodchippers and make a point of stressing that lone working is not approved by me or a sensible or safe working procedure, irrespective of the size or make of machine....Surely it was his choice to do so and his employer happy to have allowed it? In this tragic case, they were wrong - even if the TCIA say that lone working is safe, that amounts to a recommendation and not an instruction. While I am against lone working, I think a previous posters comments believing that machine advertising was a contributory factor are not helpful. Again, my thoughts and best wishes go to those who have to deal with this.
  2. No pictures Ian, shush, it's top secret, don't mention it to anyone!
  3. Get a tape and a book of tables from one of the supplier's of arb kit and books!
  4. Am I correct in the conclusion that it came out if the Laski stable from the Chezc Republic?
  5. The 1928 can be had on a turntable, I've sold groups of them to Local Authorities up tint North West these last couple of years? 4 to Manchester and 5 to Wigan! If you see a big Quadchip in the Worksop area, that will be the test bed donkey.....
  6. Who has imported big stuff from the States and what was it? (Cars, bikes, trucks, RV etc). More for private use really, although other stuff counts! Who did you use to do it? What did our State want for the privilege of doing this?
  7. Hmm... This topic came up in a recent meeting.....Ben, in a short while, I'll be taking a prototype back to GreenMech, shall I stop in Derby on the way down? We shelved the project but I think it might come alive again......
  8. Wait for a GreenMech to come up, they do occasionally..... I wouldn't advocate altering the spec of any machine from a standard manufacturers spec, it was built that way for a reason. Alter it and you could be deemed liable if something went wrong!
  9. Big Al Thomson from GreenMech will be there with a SafeTrac 1928 in the forestry area.

    Jokes???

Did your hear about the rail enthusiast who fell in front of a steam train? He was chuffed to bits!
  12. GreenMech recently got 3 new Ford Rangers. One of the "deciders" was the 3.5 towing capacity which gave us over capacity towing various combinations of chippers and trailers. One of our drivers has subsequently noticed that the sums on the makers plate equates to a 2.8 limit. While this has been described as a correctable oversight by Ford - soon to be put right, if you are stopped at the roadside, the plate is taken as correct and the driver could be punished. Our Ford dealership is correcting this for us at Ford's expense but it may be worth checking your own vehicles for this oversight.
  13. Got married once......
  14. It is the same casting for the engine block. 14,16,18hp - I did wonder if the 27 was similar too!
  15. Watch Listen Learn Ask Eat Drink Run Share Offer Enjoy!
  16. I live a couple of miles away. If you aint sorted, I could look into getting onto a pallet with a courier from GreenMech if necessary.
  17. My thoughts too Phil.
  18. I used to have one as a GreenMech tow tug! Slightly high geared in 1st and reverse for towing and yes I fried a clutch trying to shift 1800kgs on a boggy surface but other than that, she was good. Comfortable, economical, reliable and generally capable - a good tool! TD4 power did 140k miles in three years just with routine servicing and a battery, twice cleaned and refitted the crankcase breather mind. downside was very dear servicing from the main dealers!
  19. Just theshredder part of the Combi? Sorry no, we did one only and I know where it is and it wasn't near £1k either.... The shredder drum for a CS100 got stuck in development too....
  20. I hate to say it but I don't think you will get much luck trying to get money out of the seller. You should have satisfied yourself that all was good and unless any warranty was mentioned then - you bought it as seen. Terribly sorry....Good Luck for your future, get your head down and graft. It wouldn't have been a CM170 from 1996, we didn't make them then. As a lesson to all buyers of anything, please be careful and cautious with a used tool. Take someone who knows about machinery, get the serial number, talk to the original source and walk away if it smells peculiar. Something else will turn up.
  21. I note your concerns and having come off the tools (many years ago mind) I can sympathise....Your comments do have value and I have put a note through our usual internal channels highlighting the issues that you have had. I will also talk to our lot about RPM and the "No Stress" settings and get and something altered in the box. The buttons are okay for general usage however and I still fail to see why we get blamed when they get knocked off! Sorry....
  22. Look at the high pressure fuel pump - follow the hoses backwards from the injectors. The fuel shut off solenoid should be on the distributor pump - check all the fuses too, it might be on a separate fuse.
  23. Sky line is best done uphill then gravity can act as a brake at the drop zone. Lining downhill can be a bit sparky as the load is less manageable and gravity makes it quicker! Can you access through the rear (she said:sneaky2:)
  24. Take the wire off of the top of the fuel solenoid and try again!
  25. "Not that you're one to blow your own trumpet..." Only when the tune is a bloody good one! Stand by the product that you are selling is one phrase from the book of Honesty, Loyalty and Integrity!
