  1. Rich, bung up a photo to help the search!
  2. Get on Jon! Hope they do better than Tiger's v Saracens last week!
  3. A GreenMech QuadChip was stolen in the Derby area the other night too. I'll pist details when I get them. East Midlands at risk again.
  4. "Blow Off Valve". It isn't an instruction! A hydraulic system has a safety valve that allows the oil to bypass a valve if the pressure is too great for safe working. It prevents a hose exploding or seals from bursting etc if the system is under too much pressure. It is usually an adjustable spring pushing against a ball bearing against a hole in the valve. If the pressure is too great, the ball moves back against the spring, allowing theoil to bypass. If the infeed rollers stop pulling in because the timber is too big, that is "dead ending" the circuit whilst the pump is still pumping which is bad. The valve opens to relieve the pressure, which is good. The pressure at which the blow off operates can be adjusted by the coil spring. A spring can go weak thus opening too early or set too heavy which can pop seals, burst hoses or knacker pumps! If maximum pressure is set to 3000psi then spring weakens to 2000psi, then the rollers will appear weak and inefficient. A reset will bring about a transformation!
  5. Anyone interested in seeing my extensive collection of paint drying photos?
  6. Take the spring off the moving roller and inspect the slide - there might he something preventing it returning to the shut position. Ensure that the carrier rolls the full distance smoothly before replacing. I'm not sure that that much benefit can be gained from putting an edge on the rollers, good spring pressure should suffice. Another thing worth doing on any older chipper is to check the blow off pressure as the spring may reduce its efficiency and it will work at a lower pressure - thus not pulling in so well.
  7. "Your Mum has asked me to have a word with you....."
  8. Go for the ugly one's, they are more grateful! I twice wished I had listened! Thanks for the advice Dad......

CONDOM HISTORY : Interesting piece of history! In 1272, the Arabs invented the condom, using a goat's lower intestine. In 1873, the British somewhat refined the idea, by taking the intestine out of the goat first. I hope you appreciate this historical update
  14. if you are doing roots etc, don't get a chipper! get a shredder or burner to do the Job, try ringing John Young at Melton Mowbray on 07836 346606 but do give him a good description as to what you want to do...
  15. Come on Penfold! An offence is an offence! No matter when committed. Saracens lost two players tonight in injury time, the bin is one punishment but tge infringement could lead to a match ban as well!
  16. For a long time, Vermeer UK sold the Farmi range of pto machines. 935 pto machines are available but as rare as hrns teeth.
  17. Must be hard in the changing room to loose on a penalty try and a red card. Exciting game though. I'm off to see Tiger's v Saracens tomorrow night!
  18. Dougie and the staff at Tavy are good people....say "Hi" from me if you get there. MST, the GreenMech dealers have depots at Ivybridge and Tiverton. Go to our website, use tge dealer locater to find them. Their addresses are on their web site. As ag and groundcare dealers, they should be able to tackle it.
  19. Can you turn one another little bit so that they "mesh" rather than clash?
  20. Yeh, complete with diesel genny thumping awaybin the bed!
  21. Should this title be "When your Predator next breaks down....":sneaky2: Nearly all tracked machines have an internal brake in each hub. No engine? No power! We keep a Honda 5hp with a couple of pumps available at GreenMech to rig up a system to get the device onto a lorry and back to GreenMech if the thing cannot be fixed on site. Mac and Jason once used it to move that MultiTask mulcher we do, after an escapade whereby the driver (me) reversed it into a ditch and the oil pickup went dry!
