    Forst ST6

Got to be said.....get a GreenMech! sorry, tablet will not allow me add the thing with the cheeky grin.....
  2. I have got an air cooled Hatz engine which powers my Jensen chipper. It has a problem over heating at the moment so that when I've used it for a while the starter motor expands and won't start. It's burning a bit of oil too. When its cold starts no problem. Have checked the oil cooler to see if it was blocked and its clean and the fan works. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Sorry, re-read this "it gets so hot that it stops and the starter cannot turn it over, " - is that right?!! It is seized when hot!?! Hmm, sounds terminal to me, oil starvation more than cooling issues....
  3. Air cooled engines have fins on each barrel, check these for cleanliness, and make sure that the covers encourage air pulled in by the fan goes in the right direction!

    New Bolams

Fantastic! Congratulations to you all. Hope all goes well few the future. Best regards.
  5. I seem to think someone from the Torquay area had a compactor for a roadside contract they have/had. Was it K J Thulborn's?
  6. Thermostat can be tested by hanging it in a saucepan of water on the stove top and watch it open as the water heats up. I would be tempted to hoike out the radiator and get it on the bench for a serious core clean. what where the blades and shearbars like?
  7. You say that your radiator is relatively clean, well drain it and clean it properly and fill it with that new waterless fluid that boils at a much higher temp. Also flush out the engine before the refill, another tip is to check the thermosat to see if that is fully opening and that the temp sender unit is signalling at the correct temp. Also check that your blades and shear bars are good and that your air filter is clean. As a dirty air filter and blunt blades increase the load that the engine suffers.
  8. Nothing made further away than the EU, nothing that is advertised on ebay as an 8" for £1,500, and check the provenance with the original supplier or manufacturer.
  9. Gaydon and the surrounding areas tend to get the prototype sightings for Land rover, Range Rover and Jaguar stuff on s regular basis. I saw an Evogue a while before it came out but thought it was the replacement for the FreeLander! Mr Lawrence, yours could be factory prototype or someone's interpretation of one!
  10. Oh! I thought that they were both ordinary cast bearings of the block variety! Hmmm....
  11. Why is the lightest to tow, THE criteria? A chipper is a machine to turn a volume from large to small, a gadget to load brash into a truck in"kit" form, a tool that stops blokes from standing around a warm fire! Surely there are other factors involved in your buyers bucket list. Things such as longevity, capacity to chip, capability to get to different sites, speed across the ground, resale value, backup and support, quality of manufacturing and..... Being British! Through and through...... With a solid history of British Manufacturing, Development, Assembly and Product Support.
  12. Wefixit, may I ask if you are attached to or part of, the Redwood setbup? I asked Robert why Jensen allow Redwood to be the importer of Jensen and assemble the Forst machine. After all, there is a business conflict and from his comments, I would think that at some point in the future, Jensen will come in via another route.
  13. Long legs, nice rear view, matching front with along neck and well presented! Cleavage said woman! Would bave got the No1 dazzling Bagguley smile but was bright red and to embarrassed to dredge it up after my "performance"!
  14. Congratulations Dean, tidy range and well built!
  15. I had some strife earlier today that I thought I would share for your enjoyment. I had a troubled night with indigestion and its associated ailments...... I left home to go to Orange Plant's depot in the Wirral, so a trip up the A6, A50, M6.......etc, feeling a little unsettled, was in order. I got close to Uttoxeter and decided that another stop to use facilities was in order. There is a big Tesco not far off of the A50 so I decided to "unload", again, and then fuel up the GreenMech towtug. I hastily parked and walked, with a squint, into the Customer Facilities. On entering said facilities, I went straight into a cubicle and got the job underway, quickly! A pint, held in by a pea, springs to mind. Razor blades do too. After some stomach spasms and the accompanying noises, the paperwork was done and I left the cubicle. I looked into the mirror above the wash basins, straight into the eyes of smart, leggy, well proportioned woman who was washing her hands. She raised an eyebrow, without missing a beat she said, "Hmm, noisy man!" Of course, I apologised, washed my hands while commenting on the weather and how well the Ladies team from Ireland did against the Fearns in the rughy and then left...... That will teach me to concentrate in moment of need..... To cap it all off, she was parked right by me in the car park!
  16. Tis a shredder from Salaen, a french manufacturer. They recently brought Tunnisen (TS) who are a German manufacturer of woodchippers. Fletcher-Stewart were the importers of the TS range and rebadged them as QuikChip. They stopped about 5+ years ago as their own business model was changing to Stein. At Cirencester, they were exhibited by PSD, part of the Gibson Ground care people in Lancashire I believe
  17. Ont radio they said that German law allows this sort of settlement! To Bernie, it is a piffling amount of money that he hardly notice the change in his bank accounts! (All off shore and wisely invested to avoid paying large amounts of tax to the country he calls home and whose tax breaks have allowed investment in the sport he owns!) Poor old codger who is 84 will now have to put up with the fact that the world now knows he is a liar and cheat!
  18. Send me a PM or email [email protected] I would have thought that these details would be of interest to both potential exhibitors and visitors.
  19. I often wonder why there aren't more units like yours about? So much easier and cost effective than smaller trucks with no payload and the crane makes loading tools and timber a doddle! Top marks Pete.....
  20. A few more rough details may help out, where? When? What for? How much for a stand? Propsed facilities? Etc........

    Farmi 260

Speak to the good people at M Large in Northern Ireland, good bunch of people who are the importers of Farmi pto driven machines, amongst a variety of other forestry kit.
  22. He he he he...... I always like to get the spanners out, but, another view is whilst you are spannering, you aren't earning AND spending..... Whilst it is in the dealers, you could be out earning the money they want and you should be safe in the knowledge that it is all being done correctly!
  23. Hmm, they are still having a bit of bother with some of these.......cracks appearing in the casing, mounting pins bending and some convex's not recycling the material and making a right mess. The idea is top notch but flail heads work in a different manner to reels and the material they are asked to deal with is different. Fine on short grass at this time of year but doing first cuts or something fairly long or heavy - that takes some slower forward speed, a lot of care and increased maintance/repairs. Have you thought if an out front rotary or fitting a Muthing head to an out front?
  24. Labour rates at a workshop vary hugely from the rich south to the poor north! I've heard of rates as low as £45 to about £75! Some years ago, I ran a FreeLander for the GreenMech towtug and the rate then was £75 or if had been a Disco or RR, £105 per hour! Back then, the oil was £7 per litre too!!!
  25. Is there a shear mechanism that needs adjustment! I've heard of such things as two dimpled plates which had ball bearings in the dimples. These plates are forced together under spring tension and over time these springs can weaken....
