  1. I'd at least try and talk them round to your way of thinking and try and have some imput on the finished article. And if not take the money. If you dont do it someone else will. ..just dont turn up with a company logo if your worried about your handywork.
  2. That tree is finished..just very badly. My incomplete reductions dont look like that , so I assume the company spec was just to flat top the tree ?

    Stihl ms441

It will take handle a upto a 32" bar no problem...it will just be very sluggish depending on what your cutting.
  4. Ive gota 98 Hilux LN165, its a real workhorse. Had it for 6 years and still going strong, i'll keep it until I destroy it...which may be some time. If your after reliability go for a Toyota. The rides choppy as hell but that dosent bother me. And in the unlikely event of you needing parts, there dirt cheap. Go to somewhere like milneroffroad.com.
  5. How much of your hard earned cash does it take to own a thor tow behind. Im very tempted by the flood of cheap chinese copies on ebay and elsewhere but in abit doubtful on their reliability and backup.
  6. I go to the planing portal view the specific scale maps (s) I want and then picture rip them, tweak them enough to avoid copyright, print and then submit.
  7. Ive still got them. The stitching has still held as have all the rivets and the sole I brought some cheaper oregon supercomforts in jan which although instantly comfortable, dont have the same build quality.
  8. Yamabico 330mm Abit too grabby from new but onced used a few times cuts very well. Still like my zubat but the larger teeth on the yamibico make cutting larger stuff easier.
  9. ms170 is way too sluggish for using up aloft, lack of power and slow chain speed make them a pain in the arse especially when you wanna cut lumps close to bar length.
  10. I got a HL100 4mix which never use to want to start and was really slugish on the uptake and use to cut out alot. I put it down to the all in one air filter which seemed to be really restrictive. so i changed it with some less retrictive foam and its no where near as bad.
  11. Yeah i always make sure i run knacked blades... especially ones which which look like they might disintegrate on impact Seriously though , those blades seemed ok prior to destruction.
  12. RECORD £2.8M SEIZED FROM TRAVELLERS - Harborough Today Thats who he's referring. Not that I necessarily agree.
  13. You can still buy ammonium sulphamate legally.... as a soil improver/compost accelerator. Just remember its harmful to plants
  14. I could of but I decided to pay monthly even with the 3% surcharge it was a a total bargain .. I normally pay in one, but the shock of hearing the price probably threw my brain into meltdown.
  15. Ive just renewed my insurance after contacting the Kilmarnock office. They were £500 cheaper than my local NFU office, and over £800.00 cheaper than Trust!!!!!!!!!! (my old insurer). Ive saved an absolute fortune...cheers stephen
  16. Yeah its imprinted on my mind for all eternity after hearing the sound of metal chunks clanging out the chipper shoot.... laburnum 5" diameter
  17. Not sure why it failed, and was lucky it didnt damage any of the the rotor
  18. I use both genuine and copy blades, though 90% of the time ive gone with saturn blades due to cost. The only blade ive had fail in 6 yrs, was this timberwolf one.
  19. Look like firebugs you get them here in the uk and there mainly seed feeders. http://www.wildanimalsonline.com/insect/firebug.php http://www.cwgsy.net/private/gsybiorec/entomology/files/pyrrhocoris_files/pyrrhocorisb.html
  20. Think they should have at least finished the job off with a proffesional crew as an example of how undertake the work, and put right their mistakes ..instead of farting around with silky saws on a diffrent tree with no real insight of what to expect from reputable firm.
  21. :001_tt1:Awesome!! im gonna phone em first thing and save myself an absolute packet !! Thanks and thanks again!
  22. Does that quote have height restrictions as it seems too good to be true!!!getting on for £900 less than what im currently paying!
  23. Which NFU branch is it as my insurance with Trust runs out soon and im after some other 'hopefully cheaper' quotes
  24. Agreed i rekon there the toughest boots on the market, especially good for navigating through the tops of really sharp hard deadwood in the middle of leylandii conifer hedges.. the sort previously reduced by muppets where theres hundreds of small spear like branches trying to stab you.
  25. Refresher courses are a load of crap for experienced workers who use saws every day of their working life...and when their not using them their taking em to bits and working on them.. at least I am. Competant people in this industry dont need to be told about poor technique and frowned on methods because you wouldnt last long taking risks. Are all our premiums gonna go down as a result. No!. We'll still be paying the earth. There is a place for occasional users who have to use a saw but this is what happens when there is just one regulatory body calling the shots. It maybe simplistic on paper but limited choice and no room for maneuver, we are all at NPTCs whim. Come back fastco.
