  1. Ive got the same grinder, had it for 4/5 years... should pi$$ through that stump with sharp teeth which btw shouldnt need re-sharpening on a stump that small.
  2. Dealers have only so much leeway to discount. They get tied into deals on kit with manufactures, normally depending on how much stock they buy, the more ppe or silkly blades or whatever product the cheaper they usually get them for. I agree some prices are rip off high and Price is no guarantee of quality, but you gotta take your vent on the producers of those products.
  3. Not a bad read apart from the self serving 2 liner BS rant at the end.
  4. Ask the garden ground staff at the hospital how they usually tackle working in those courtyards. Normally they usually use big trolleys for wheelin the stuff out, or you could buy a load of cheap large tarpaulins from wickes, bundle everything up and drag it out.
  5. Theres no such thing a typical range. Everyone circumstances are diffrent, every job is diffrent, everyones setup are diffrent and therefore its not as simple as looking up a price. Only you know how much your worth and need to make/day thats the fun of being self employed.
  6. Got the saw from J.K Smit & Zonen (JKS) in northants. 01536 310485. Ask for Dave he should beat anyone on price for Huskys. Dont know if the price I paid was because I brought a load of other stuff but he was the cheapest nationwide by a mile and is definately worth getting a quote if your after a new husky.
  7. There virtually identical (same cc) except the 361 has abit more power
  8. Agreed the vermeer is tame, i'm refering to the drum of death bandit.
  9. I would say sell it and put the extra towards a 361, but as its your only saw keep it as backup.
  10. Think im too use to my entec 6 inch chipper gently chugging away at a nice steady pace..some of those US models just look a bit lethal, I can see why they have afew nasty accidents with them.
  11. Can a chipper be too fast? I wouldnt wanna get snagged on a branch and get sucked into that thing.
  12. I checked the spec of your saw in the pdf manual and cause ive got oregons product catalogue which list the specs of virtually every saw on the market for bar and chains i found it there. Unless your buying a pro saw theres not much difference between modern consumer saws 'pro brand' or similar. If you need the saw for your livelyhood i.e your self employed yes its not the greatest choice but if your just starting out and restrict its use from being slaughtered everyday I dont see a problem.
  13. I just brought a 390xp ..first husky ive ever brought after using stihls for 10 yrs. Got it mainly on price £454+vat and the dealer is decent and local. It pulls a 36" bar no probs and runs sweet apart from the dead mans trigger flew out last week
  14. Looking at the manual your bars a .325/.050" and cross refrencing with the oregon cataloge you can replace with an 18 or 16" bar. These are the numbers you need to fit a 16" Bar 160SLGK041 Chain 95VP066E And if you do buy oregon ask for discount as dealers can knock a huge amount off rrp similar to stihl and husky.
  15. If youve got a cut off saw you could try using one of those tungstan rippa blades which cut through anything ...probably http://www.dtas-diamonds.com/l-gb/diamond-tipped-cutting-tool.asp?p=13
  16. That is an unbelievably good price. Im searching for a new 660 with 36" bar at the moment ...whose the dealer doing it that cheap...
  17. Your best bet would be to ring up a few insurance companies (Trust & Lycetts were the last two i used) and ask them. All the insurance forms Ive ever filled in were tailored for business use with them wanting to know my turnover, employees etc. Whoever you go with these days the forms are virtually identical. Ive never seen a Non business use policys but apparently there available.
  18. I always thought you have to be bona-fide self employed running your own business and paying your own N.I contributions before you could get cover. Though I could be wrong..?
  19. I think in the overall scheme of things (at least from a business point of view) the price is negiaible. i.e £90 wouldnt even fuel me for a week.
  20. If you can shell out the extra ££'s the double dvd set which go with the book are also an excellent watch. Very comprehensive and concise.

Asking people is pretty pointless because you'll get a 101 different prices. Everyones predicament is different. The best way to find out is to judge it yourself, by your own means what you feel your worth. You'll know if you get the price right.. Pricing work correctly is achived from your own experiences not from what someone else tell you.

Its whatever you think is a fair price.
  23. Is there anyone who hasn't been effected by crime in their business?, it seems whoever you meet in this industry has been robbed at some time.
  24. I tend to sick to the same brand purely so i can interchange between parts and normally choose on the basis of weight vs power i.e ms260,360,460 not 24,34,44. Though if your solely using one saw most of the time all day for extended periods I'd want lower vibe levels. Huskys would fit the bill but as im stihl bias id say 441 should be more than adequate especially if your not going over a 20" bar.
  25. The husky cans are awful crap. The thread on the oil side is duff on mine so I couldnt screw the spout on tight though after cutting the rubber washer in half it now fits. Build quality is very poor imo ..im sure they alway use to be a one peice unit? Stick with oregon..tough as old boots ..and the stihl spout fits them
