  3. Andy, I'm sorry your not getting on with it, as far as i know its 13mm and i used to use the ocean polyester 10mm with it. I did really like it when i was using it. Ian
  4. I swear i saw those flowers in tescos the other day for 12.99:001_tongue:. It should be the thought that counts, if i done that the misses would have a heart attack. Bit expensive tho
  5. Me and a friend got a kiln from the festival of the tree show thats just gone you buy the motor and get the plans to build one, its from sweden i think. When i see him next ill see if i can get a copy of the plans and price. Its about 14ft long i think. Ian
  6. I think they might drop the rates again, they need people to trust in them again and start spending there money. I don't think its going to be a bad recession but a long one.
  7. For firewood it takes a long time to season, it makes good charcoal tho. Woodturners like it, it's a shame your to far away i would be intrested in some. Ian
  8. Great upgrade Steve, everything looks fine here .
  9. Alaskin to use in the woods simple to use lighter too. The electric one on the M7 sounds good quieter , quicker better productivity i guess. Ive got the 880 does use a lot of fuel when doing it. Have you thought of a bandsaw one?
  10. Like has been said did you have guidance, good groundsman can help you .Always looks different from the ground. I usualy have help as im not as experienced as some people on here (some people need it some don't).
  11. Almost a perfect square impressive:001_tongue:
  12. Depenps what is planned for the day, recently 4.00am getting dexters ready for slaughter. Once there off fill charcoal kiln, tree felling for rest of day back by 3 to pic me kids up from school. 13. Says its not avalible outside the U.S Ian
  14. Kong are very good in my opinion, There use to be a place in stroud called High Places who deals in mainly Kong equipment. Haven't been there for a while, so can dig out number if anyone intrested.

our loler inspector said we can't use screw gates any more on saw strops, due to risk of it coming undone. you could only use it for eg. holding silky or first aid kit.
  16. It depends which way you cut them, If you cut them like logging up they will split very easy. But if you cut them across the grain then make them into rings they don't split as much, Sometimes not at all. I aways seal the end grain with pva or wax as well which stops splitting too. I'm waiting for our kiln to turn up so i can build that, should only take 5 days to dry then.
  17. Cheers for the info as well Jim:icon14: Ian
  18. QUOTE:I noticed a comment about felling the tree or limb etc and leaving over night to let the bats escape... do not do this as again you will have disturbed any bats and broken the law.QUOTE I've have felled a few trees that they thought there were bats in, but with a crane so there lowered slowly and left for a few weeks. Does this mean its wrong? I did have a bat inspector there the whole time watching my every cut and move tho. This is what he/she advised. Was i missinformed then or does everyone have there own way of doing things. Had them there for newts too, had to lay hundreds of mtrs of newt fencing. Chris, would you have any specs and info on making bat boxes. Ian
  19. Surely that makes your mouth drier than a nuns furry letterbox:001_smile:
  20. Never had chainsaw accident touch wood. Caught myself with my silky a few times, always seems to be after i've put a new blade on it to.
  21. Arbocop thanks for the info things are more clearer now. Pete McSheffery: I've heard that too,the collages charge the majority of the money for what? i don't know. When i done my felling course the instructor was on about it saying it getting hard to make money.
  22. Time served for any trade now doesn't mean anything IMO, its all about if you have the right bit of paper. Which is a shame there are a lot of good people out there. I know experience doesn't come in a week, you will be learning up until your dieing days in this job. So what i can gather is cs39 is only for deadwooding and the odd limb removed, like I said trying to find other avenues council, highways etc etc. So will basic quals restrict me in my search.? Is it harder for people with no quals but say 20 years experience get that type of work.? How does one get insurance with no quals but experience? Surely they ask? Questions, questions so many questions. like i said any advice would be great Ian
