  1. why does the husky bar need greasing when the stihl ones don't?
  2. Day rate or write down EXACTLY what your quote covers. State anything over and above will be charged for. It will either stop the can you just or give you the option to charge for it
  3. Just be sure to state a minimum charge. You won't be happy to be called to the other side of the village for a 500m run for £20+VAT
  4. Looks like it would be an easy way to get on the TO's hit list, any apps you submit may find their way to the bottom of the pile and any potential contracts available may miss your postbox.
  5. and I was just looking to ask for feedback on these machines as it's time for a new top handle.
  6. I'm going to have to do the next one, god damned teachers wanting another day off forcing me to miss a days work.
  7. I've got an early quadchip with the Daihatsu engine in it. Excellent machine, does what it says on the tin and does it well.
  8. At the rate he says he works he could be in Brisbane for tea time
  9. So Jimbob87 who has seen the job says 3 a day between 2 men and Dig-dug-dan thinks he can do 26 a day by himself. A bit of a difference there. Based on £250 labour a day (Dig-dug-dan can have all of that to himself as he will be working so hard) there is £3750 difference between quotes assuming identical material costs. I would really hope you can do more than 3 a day especially with a tractor knocker as you have already said the ground will be easy knocking. Unless that is you have not told us there is 3 miles between each tree and the ground is currently 4 foot deep in brambles.
  10. My back side you could. Come up here and I will pay you day rate and be a millionaire by Christmas!!
  11. £100 a unit all in (£50-55 for materials). 2 men would do well to be completing a unit an hour with a post knocker by the time you have off loaded what you need and measured up at each location. It's not like doing a 300m straight run. 5 mins per post, 5 mins to put the 4 rails on, 5 mins for the mesh, 5 mins for the wire and 5 mins to get to the next one is your hour.
  12. foot brake on, mower deck switched off and it should fire up
  13. you can't really compare a TW190 to a quadchip. Massive difference in weight, engine power, intake size and price. It's like saying which is best a fiesta or a Mercedes.
  14. I've got a quad chip but never used a GM150 to compare it to. I will say though that I find the turntable very useful. 3 different jobs today and each job had the feed hopper in a different position. I find it makes some jobs safer especially when you have to park road side and can therefore feed the chipper from the drive instead of having to drag everything onto the road to chip.
  15. Really good compressors for basics. I've has one for about 18 months for cleaning saws and blowing up tyres etc. without any issues
  16. No, one of his spare houses he is in while sorting the main residence
  17. Sounds like a serious amount of downtime if you expect to chip into a mog and remove the chip from site. If the work site is so small then would you have the space to stack brash waiting for the mog to get back onto site? Surely an independent chipper filling a couple of grain trailers or 8 wheelers would be a better option.
  18. Generally £ per meter dependant on style and height however small sections or repairs need to be priced on their own merit. A single post replacement could be £100 however in a decent run of basic post and rail you could get 5 meters for that same £100. Never say how long it will take.
  19. Bob Peaker is in New Mill, PM him on here (Bob) Kev
  20. Any chance if I make the visit I could have the keys for the filters cupboard for a minute or two? I've 2 sets of blades on the shelf waiting to be sharpened as well.
  21. white smoke is generally over fuelling. Could you have a split hose after the turbo? The air has been metered in so diesel is added to match but the air is leaking through the split hose leading to over fuelling.
