  1. Those extreme 4x4 ones are 560lbft/in and standard height
  2. Springs haven't been on long but it's fine. BFG mud's all round so decent tyres and this is what really matters in the mud
  3. Defender 130 +60% extra heavy duty standard height rear springs from extreme 4x4 +25% heavy duty standard height front springs from extreme 4x4 standard helper springs from land rover Delphi decarbon heavy duty shocks all round Standard anti roll bars front and rear Rides spot on and very little drop when loaded
  4. Why were you looking at land rovers when a 2wd would do? This is a question not a criticism.
  5. Why are people still doing tax returns in January? Do them earlier and then you know earlier what you will owe. You don't have to pay it until end of Jan but why wait 8 months to do the paperwork?
  6. search facebook for #necnomination. Basically if you receive a nomination and you have 24 hours to film yourself downing a pint whilst doing something daft. You then nominate 2 other people and so it goes on
  7. Got 2 or 3 knocking around, send me a PM with an address and I will send them on. If you want to cover the postage then give something to the childrens trust. Kev
  8. Apart from the fact it's against the law and seen as tax evasion if they work full time for you
  9. This Next week you need a new team who will need your full attention to work in your own unique way. He may want to come back if he sees the grass isn't greener.
  10. I pay subbies either at the end of the day/job or the end of each week if it's a longer job. If you can't afford to pay the subbie before you get paid from the job then the job is probably too big for you at the moment. You need to do all that is reasonably practicable to ensure the subbie is registered for self employment and will complete their own tax return or you will be liable for any tax the HMRC feels should have been paid from your work (keep records of your check incase HMRC contact you). Either ensure the subbie has been self employed for a while or provides you with a UTR (unique tax reference) number which shows they are registered. You can check with HMRC and ask if the subbie is recorded as paying tax. HMRC can ask you to deduct tax at source if the subbie is brand new to self employment or has a history of tax avoidance. If this happens you must record it on the pay receipt provided to the subbie and also report it on RTI (HMRC PAYE system) or when you do your tax return. You will be told what % to deduct. I have a sheet that I ask subbies to fill in on the first work day with their name/address/emergency contact number and a declaration to sign which states I will be paying them gross and by signing the form they accept they are liable for their own tax.
  11. APF early September this year
  12. I will try get you a number Pete, it hasn't had the cover off in at least 2 1/2 years. The old boy says it's his sons first ever car and he won't sell it but you never know.
  13. FR Jones? I am up north so everything below Sheffield is near London to me
  14. What ever you do make sure you think about self rescue. If it's going to be that hard for you to get up there how long would a rescuer take if you needed it?
  15. and another from a tanker company 'Your S**t is my bread and butter'
  16. change the lens cover on the fog light to a white one and just push the fog light switch when you feel you need to reverse and tell someone you are reversing. No wiring, no switches to change and you can always just put the red lens back on when you are going on a dual carriageway/motorway/past a VOSA checkpoint
  17. If you are trying to push it along and it doesn't go anywhere check the centre diff. When I built mine I got the centre diff the wrong way around and it fits in just nice but the thing will not push along the floor. Takes a bit of fiddling to get to it to swap it around.
  18. I have to agree with this, my experience has been the same.
  19. I moved from an Entec (timberwolf) to a Greenmech quadchip 13 months ago. Blades on average last 4 times longer and then they just need a turn not a change therefore 12 times longer between sharpens. Speed wise the Greenmech is loads faster. Aftersales wise PeteB was excellent when I had a minor issue bringing me a loan machine while mine went back to the factory to be sorted and the service lads at HQ are helpful with any questions you may have. I have to say I am disappointed with my 'local' dealer especially on price for servicing and Greenmech seem keen to not deal in service parts from Greenmech HQ. I haven't tried any other dealers though. I'm happy with mine. A lot of my work is conifers and I could easily block the TW with wet conifer, something that hasn't happened in the 12 months I have used the GM.
  20. Copied from the acknowledgement of a 5 day special when I notified the council of a large ash that had fallen blocking a road and smashing up a house on Christmas eve. (Quote start) I acknowledge receipt of your five day notification of your intent to carry out work to a dead or dangerous protected tree, received by us on 02-Jan-2014. From the photo you have submitted I can confirm this tree does fall under the dead or dangerous exemption and that your notification is acceptable. Please note when removing trees using this exemption there is a legal obligation to plant a replacement tree at the same place. (Quote end) I always state on invoices for jobs where a replant is required "As discussed during our consultation a replant is required by the council. By paying this invoice you accept the liability to replant a tree as per the details outlined in the copy of the TPO paperwork attached. Should you wish for us to replant on your behalf please contact us." Again on the rare occasion I have been asked to replant I state that "The newly planted tree must be cared for as outlined in the council paperwork (attached). You have contracted us to provide and plant a tree as per the councils specification, we do not accept liability for the future of the tree should it not be suitably cared for. By paying the invoice you accept these conditions." In this sueing society where there must be someone to blame for a short coming then I find it best to ensure the jobs I finish are suitably closed out or if there is further work to be done to satisfy someone (e.g a replant for the council/stump to be ground) my client knows they are responsible for this and my involvement has ended unless further contact is made.
  21. Tree surgeon is specifically mentioned in the link from AA Paul as requiring a lower tier licence. It's free so why not. Looks like the arb exemption certificate is now work as much as a pocket full of French francs
  22. You need to turn more than 30k on CIS jobs not just general business
