  1. Noticed a few breaks in the kill switch wire on a saw would they be enough to stop the ignition from working ? Tried turning her over on a drill so I could really watch and there was no spark at all ,not even a weak intermittent one.
  2. Thought you would be back for Christmas although Christmas in Berlin sounds a good crack , Just Dead wooding and climbing inspections on limes, Getting breezy and wet in Alnwick !
  3. Don't see what the problem is with uk gun law either do you really need hand guns or semi automatic rifles over 2.2 ? Micheal Ryan lost a lot of people's fun but is it really necessary to own either of the two above weapons in your own home.
  4. I had on my chipper wheel clamps on each tyre and a head lock.. Also a chain concreted in that I put over the axle and two security bollards blocking the entrance which none of stood a chance against a cutting torch.
  5. Pleaching is training along wires I thought ..... Usually the trees will be flat or form tunnels.
  6. Nearly all your 61 mass murders since 1982 have been carried out with legally obtained fire arms ... What have criminals got to do with this ?
  7. Good thread , glad you are not letting the scum beat you.....
  8. I'm tempted Andrew... Need to replace one ms340 next year so will definitely be looking at the dolmar 6100.
  9. Couple of packets of salmon and sea trout flys and a cut and climb jacket.
  10. With a wrench but it's frowned upon !! It's very good though apparently
  11. Looks like the tether would do its job well ... Personally preference though is the hitch climber so you can clip the haas in to and the tether in the spare holes makes the system more efficient in the trade off imo. [ame] [/ame]
  12. Nothing wrong with pollards !! it's topping that's out of vogue.
  13. Exactly Darrin ,it took a few attempts Rec climbing to find the sweet spots that gave me full confidence in the system to use it for work. I put a climber on my system to take out a hanger on Monday and had to do a Ariel rescue when the top of the hitch jammed in the wrench.. I've never had this happen ...But has probably put him off SRT !
  14. I found the neck tether really no good with the bone possibly as its a lot heavier than the wrench you sort of get a nasty bouncy feeling , same with the Hitch hiker.
  15. That would work but be restrictive and probably after a few ascents tear your shirt .. The elastic seems to work really sweet though to give some movement and helps with tending which is the Beauty than it been fixed.
  16. Mines a lot longer , I have three different settings on it, the tightest is for ascent , this is a work position that I will just clip back on for coming back off long limbs and helps keep the rope tending and the wrench and hitch from dangling by my knees.. A tight setting is a lot better for ascent but if it's a bit looser and your say dead wooding it saves a few seconds than un clipping it to make just one cut. If your climbing on a hitch hiker or bone I think again the optimum tether will be different , mine didn't work at all well with the HH or bone but a sling did , I just did not feel comfy with the sling and found it got in the way and restrictive. I suppose though no same climber is going to be on the exact system or what suits one is not going to suit another so your best too get out and try.
  17. You could easily make one they are not life support.. I made some of these up for a length of small rope and epllel tree hook as a traverse kit.. I think the carbon would not last long using on a main line system though.
  18. Climbing on both the cougar and Yale kern at the minute , prefers the cougar but I really like New England tachyon and would prob buy that if I had to replace the cougar or kern.
  19. My choice would be. Rope wrench. Ct foot ascender unless you have the old style pantin. Haas... After using a haas I would never go back to a frog walker hand ascender style system. 4srt neck loop from tree kit or make one up similar.
  20. Looks an interesting read Chris , hell of a price tag on it though!

True , best tree men I've Met are the ones who have fallen in to this work, I doubt they ever woke up and thought I want to be a tree worker today and went out to look for a job.
  22. I would not put any of those in my top five !! Sorry bud.
