  1. yes i always try to find a solution, i’m not a big fan of the “woe is me” option what am i doing? im enjoying having some enforced time off work, it’s nice to tick off some jobs on my smallholding I won’t be claiming any money from anyone if i can help it, through hard work and leading a fairly frugal lifestyle i’ve managed to save a bit of money that will cover the finance on my two tractors, two diggers and the heizohack as well as my mortgage and other domestic and work bills for a few months if this lockdown continues for the long term i might speak to my finance companies about a payment holiday and i believe my misses has spoken to our mortgage company about a payment holiday. she’s also self employed
  2. moaning that your not getting any government handouts and now quibbling over how much money you might be able to earn in a job that’s a stop gap till your trade picks up again ?
  3. My new machine arrived today, JCB 65r1 with steel tracks and engcon tiltrotator with gripper. need to sort out guarding and getting the case drain fitted for the flail tomorrow and it’ll be straight out to work practically moving from one site to the next for the next couple of months with a bit of sub contracting thrown in for good measure
  4. unimogs rock apart from when they dont nothing major just a funny clutch and a good hydraulic leak
  5. I was told by a commercial sawyer that you should change the band when you start getting the feathery swarf in the back of the blade, i usually push on and get a bit more done till i feel a difference in cutting speed
  6. I fully understand the concept of budgets my comment was meant to be slightly tongue in cheek, I’m sure a far better value for money option would have been available rather than having two people, a skid steer and chipper onsite for a day for what is essentially 20mins work with a tractor and moderately sized heizohack
  7. obviously got some budget to get rid of
  8. my mates got the 2.7 so i’m sure it’ll be alongside it at somepoint. this machine will go through a 1m gap.
  9. a little bobcat e19 equipped with tiger grip grapple for the smaller jobs it’s not worth taking a bigger machine to, plus it’s easy for the guys to take behind a truck without maxing out the towing capacity. twin auxiliary hydraulics on proportional rollers so no messing about with diverter valves. tidy mesh guard to protect the front screen not used it in anger yet but i’m sure it’ll prove to be a handy addition replacing my old yanmar which has gone to retire on my small holding
  10. the paint job on the counter weight is great
  11. hi eddie could you run a mulcher beneath the engcon? or would it be a case of taking the engcon off to run the mulcher?
  12. ruined for about a day until the swap the plug and bolt the roof on ?
  13. what was the reason for felling it at that height?
  14. il be switching to an 9 tonne in the new year its going to be a big investment as i’ll have to upgrade all my attachments as well, just the tilty is going to be the best part of 20k
  15. it’s in lymington on the edge of the new forest. it’s a small dockyard on the lymington river. there’s a ferry that goes across to the isle of wight back later in the week with the heizohack to chip it all up for biomass IMG_8310.MOV
  16. pollarding roadside willows with a 13 tonne city crane. 20 done today, couple more to do tomorrow then back to heizohack everything IMG_8873.MOV IMG_8872.MOV IMG_8881.MOV
  17. i’d already picked out a load of other bits of metal from the pile as i was going along, absolutely no care taken by the lads felling and stacking the trees. surprising really as they used to own there own heizo
  18. i’ve got fuelwood coming out monday to give it the once over, not worth causing any more damage if there is a problem the guy i was chipping for was very perturbed when i told him i wasn’t chipping anymore hell be even more pissed when he gets the repair bill
  19. i’ve been charging £80 an hour wether it’s travelling or chipping. minimum charge of 8hrs i also charge for blades if metal goes through the chipper but also charge if other parts are damaged at the same time, todays client will get the bill for 5 blade holders at £185 each and a set of blades this was what went through today, no idea what it is
  20. After running crane fed chippers and roofmount tractors for the last 4-5 years with 3 different chippers and 3 different tractors i still find myself questioning my rates for this equipment. what do people charge hourly for a crane fed chipper and tractor? obviously combinations of both affect pricing so currently i’m running a heizohack 8-400k behind a valtra t163 with 8m crane. I also bill for 8hrs minimum per day to include travel unless the gear needs to go on a low loader in which case it’s 8hrs minimum plus low loader cost cheers
  21. i’ve got the milwaukee impact gun, grinder and grease gun. very pleased with them, not used any others to compare but i’d certainly buy again
  22. great thread, interested to see how it goes. ive got two paterdale terriers but my next dog will be a working cocker
