  1. Thanks Eddie, always good to have the perspective of someone who’s at the front of these things ?
  2. I wish I’d had them fitted when I got my newer tractor 13 months ago. 7-8k to add them now. Also looked a getting scanreco remote controls fitted for about the same cost
  3. Femac te80 rev forestal on a 6 tonne machine took about 6-7hrs to clear this acre ish site
  4. Yeah that includes the pressure assist something I will get done at some point
  5. @Tom D from the the top of my head it’s about 6k
  6. What ever you have is not enough, started with an old Mazda pickup truck and no chipper, bought an old Timberwolf chipper. Up graded the truck to an Isuzu 3.5 tonne tipper and then the Timberwolf to a green mech quad chip. Bought a unimog then swapped it for a tractor. Then Bought a Unimog with a 10 inch Schlesing chipper. And a tractor with a grain trailer to mover chip and timber. Wanted a bigger chipper so bought a 12” Jensen crane fed machine. Wanted a bigger chipper than the 12” so bought a 18” heizohack. Bought another tractor so I could haul more chip in a bigger grain trailer. Now on bigger jobs we haul chip in grain trailers behind the mog and one of the tractors. Somewhere along the way I also had a landy tipper, a bandit chipper, a tracked jenson and a pto 10” tp chipper im now in negotiations for a bigger tractor with more road speed and higher hp as I said whatever you get is rarely enough once you get going
  7. I’ve just been and got one this afternoon from Halfords
  8. I wasn’t arguing, more pointing out the facts as they stand so I’m sorry that you feel like you’ve lost something. ive been neither sarcastic or had a go at any individual either. But that’s the problem with the written word, people can interpret things differently
  9. Aggressive? Personally I find swearing aggressive and unnecessary which is why it is discouraged on the forum, most members manage to follow this rule without claiming “censorship” You are well within your rights to start any thread you wish as long as it complies with the forum rules that you agreed to when joining the forum three years ago. wether or not I agree with your thread is neither here nor there and I certainly would never delete it, that would be censorship im glad you like the forum cheers
  10. He was quoting an actual situation?? So even if those were the words used in the “actual situation” what do you think the benefit of replaying the scene word by word actually was? I’m baffled as to why the “actual situation” required a thread of its own anyway but maybe that’s just me im going to put it real simple for you... If you don’t like the way the forum is moderated then leave, you won’t be the first and you certainly won’t be the last
  11. Is this question aimed directly at me? If it is il try to give you a little insight as to why I neither have the time nor inclination to read every thread wether it interests me or not I run my own company, I have done for the last decade at least. I’m an Arb approved contractor and manage all the associated paperwork myself. I have a good team of guys who all require managing and need work putting in front of them. I’ve got over £100k of work ahead of me of which I do all the quoting for. As well as contracting I also undertake all the Arb consultancy work for my company as well as most of the machine work for my own jobs as well as other companies who require operated machine hire. I also live on a smallholding which could be considered a full time job in itself So forgive me for not moderating to your exacting standards. Maybe you should do your own bit for the forum by not posting inane threads that require moderating because you think throwing some disgusting language in makes you look tough
  12. Choice language there, how about you re edit it to something more suitable next time il delete the thread without a little heads up
  13. Excavator mounted flail with a careful operator would probably see most of it done then finish off the worst bits with a hand cutter and mulch the cuttings down with the flail
  14. Cleared about an acre of regen on a future development site following the initial felling about 4yrs ago. Mixture of bramble, rushes, hazel, ash and willow up to about 4 inches diameter in places. About 7hrs work
  15. Once Again several members of this forum having a pissing contest to see who can be the biggest twat on the forum maybe someone could actually offer some constructive advice You’d have thought all the “experienced” cutters commenting on the thread from their bedroom in mummy’s house might have been able to suggest that the RA and MS statement not only talk about the process of cutting the windblown tree but also about emergency details, ie nearest access for ambulance, first aid facilities, who’s in charge, what the “standard” kit setup is, signing and guarding the area to prevent public access etc hopwfully these are are few ideas to get you moving on this project. I would also look at the FISA guidelines and the Arboricultiral association for RA templates and method statements any problems and I be happy to send mine over for this type of work good luck
  16. I’ve been using Arbpro since June 2014, I certainly wouldn’t use anything else. I probably don’t use it to it’s full capabilities but the quoting and invoicing plus job booking and risk assesment feature saves me a good few hours every week meaning lots less office time
  17. Chipping up on the last few days clearance job. 8 loads of chip back to the yard with 6 loads of timber
  18. Actually I feel like I should expand on my previous post I once approached a guy who owned a tree company through a friend of a friend about some work. I’d not long left the company I had been working for and was looking for the next step in my climbing career he told me to come in the next Sunday morning at 8am, I duly arrived and was told I was plotting on shrubs in the Polly tunnel. 10l into 15l pots. I did that for 6 or 7 hours until we went grass cutting at the local college. We were there for a good few hours and I didn’t get home till nearly 8. Obviously proved my worth and started on for him the next day. Ended up in the end doing most of his quoting and bought his chipper off him as I went out on my own and he was winding down. Still got some of his customers 12/13 years later on take from that what you will
  19. Not sure if your suited to that line of work jack. You’d given up on it before you’d even started and by the sounds of it had a downer on the job before you even got going i hear McDonald’s is hiring
  20. Stevie ive only ever used the flail on my machine with the rocker switch. I had engcon set my machine up so that I could operate it on a switch as well so the flail was either on or off but can honestly say I’ve never used it
  21. The flail on my 6 tonne machine manages about 4-5 inch diameter that’s using a femac te80 rev forestal flail
  22. I might be wrong matty but I think the finger teeth bolt pattern is the same as the green teeth bolt pattern. It was on my old Carlton grinder I had a few years back. If you measure the bolt centres tomorrow il check the green teeth on my predator (I’ve literally changed from multitip to green teeth on my predator this afternoon)
  23. They’ve got to be better than the old stain ones
  24. For most of my work I think I’d struggle with a machine smaller than my 6 tonne volvo ive often thought that a smaller machine might be handy but if I need to get into somewhere generally I can sell the concept of removing a fence post and reinstating it at the end off the job to make the job more efficient and ultimately a bit cheaper Long term il probably end up with a 8-9 tonne machine
