  1. Would you say a 5 tonnes is to small a machine?
  2. Thanks Eddie, I know the tiger cut version has the option for a rotator as well where as I'm not sure if tmk offer a rotator version? Other wise you'd be going down the rototilt option as well?
  3. http://www.tractorsandplant.com/product/yanmar-v1050-digger/ Eddie Would this machine be able to run a shear with a rotate function as well? If you can tell from a quick glance at a picture....
  4. Does a unit without a rotate function work off the pipe work for a breaker?
  5. getting closer to purchasing a 5-6 tonne digger to put a tree shear on when you start looking there is a huge range out there what are people using? im after a cut and hold type with a cut of about 250mm cheers
  6. Certainly wouldn't be spending money with them if you can help it
  7. No drag beech takedown, back Monday to shift timber and grind stump, about 42 inch diameter at the grcs
  8. of course we will never really know what influence people really have The CE climb system doesnt mean that any similar system that you put together is fit for purpose, only that youve tried to copy something that is CE marked. kinda like the cheap chinese copies of CE marked rigging equipment, it doesnt mean they are fit for purpose. The ban should enforce the use of the CE climb or any of the ART/ Petzl CE marked tools to carry any credability IMO sad times imo
  9. Will the ban in Germany give dmm/treemagineers/petzl a chance to catch up and release a srt device?? Who knows It's pretty convenient that the treemagineers have the CE climb system which technically is the only system people can use since the ban. Their sales must have plummeted since the srt revolution...
  10. My Massey 6485 taking a break from hedge cutting on chip duty
  11. Yes, it was a lot simpler. But tractors and unimogs are cool, or at least that's what I keep telling myself
  12. Hardly any damage, just wheel marks from turning really, but the women is un hinged so easier to keep the peace
  13. No the crane was parked at the front of the drive so could get out, we left a enough space to get the massey and chip trailer out then moved the Valmet in and started shifting timber, Massey came back from tipping off chip so filled that with timber as well. Got to go back first thing and shift the last load of timber and tidy up. Tidying up includes running a wacker plate over the drive as they are very particular about the drive and arnt to happy about having a mog, two tractors and crane driving over it
  14. Dismantled 5 maccys with a crane. Poor photos but didn't have much time to take pictures
  15. Shifted some mulch on the way to pick up the timber from a pine takedown Nice easy day with an early finish
  16. I won a free assessment for my first years AAAC through a recommendation by my local tree officer
  17. I just bought a 185hp yr 2004 Massey for not much money, definately worth a look
  18. Did you factor in taking the chips back to your yard?
  19. This is my next jacket, not many make wet weather gear better than the kiwis http://www.swazi.co.nz/shop/high-vis/karona-anorak/
  20. Some scots pine removals with this unimog crane today
  21. Pine dismantles couldn't get the Valmet and trailer into the garden where they wanted the timber stacked so loaded it onto the plant trailer with digger and grab and pulled it in with the Landy Nice start to the year
  22. There's other things I'd rather be doing to be honest but for the moment treework funds a decent lifestyle
  23. I've done my Boxing Day hunting and on way home for breakfast
  24. Thanks for some sensible input, much appreciated. I've looked at pear technology a couple of times over the last 5 years since I finished my fdsc, but can't quite bring myself to spend the money, daft I know...
  25. Yes I get the fact that pen and paper are the easiest solution but that's what I'm trying to get away from. There must be a fairly simple digital solution that is user friendly
