i put a new engine on mine last year, engine was about £1750. i had the old engine out in a couple of hours and it probably took me a day to put it all back together

A couple of 4ft diameter Monterey pines coming out at a nice property in Burley in the New Forest. both trees down in two days and about half the timber moved offsite as well. start chipping tomorrow and get the stumps sorted then hopefully have the site raked and cleared by the end of play thursday seem to have had a run of pines recently, we’ve got one do do next week then that will stand the total at 35 mature Monterey pines removed since the start of covid IMG_1465.MOV IMG_1471.MOV

some aspects of consultancy work il always charge an hourly rate for but you have to have an understanding with the client that you will be fair. for example i’m working on a scheme to construct a driveway upto a property with a steep incline and various trees. the pretty pictures of the driveway drawn by the architect are in no way feasible and representative of the situation so on this occasion I will give input, produce an tree constraints plan so they can produce a workable solution and liaise with with the LPA for an hourly rate. Ive then given them a fixed price to produce a report to accompany their planning application when it reaches that stage I always provide a breakdown of time spent with the invoice so people can see where the times gone, 15 mins here half an hour there soon adds up

who’s the grinder made by?

it’s not me or my machine from the limited time i spent watching it work im not sure the technique you suggest is possible with that machine anyway? you need to reach over the stump and work back towards yourself.

he wasn’t giving it 100%. I didn’t want all the grindings spread over the adjacent acre field so he was running it in 750 instead of 1000 speed and going steady ive seen it at full chat and it’s impressive

had my mates valtra 254 and ahwi grinder out to do 25 pine stumps. 4hrs grinding then i removed 40 cubic metres of grindings when he was done IMG_1026.MOV IMG_1023.MOV FullSizeRender.mov

my jcb is reduced tailswing, it’s definitely more unstable than my old volvo but then i have got a heavier top hitch plus the integrated gripper as well which adds a bit of weight my little bobcat is very stable but don’t know if i’d by another bobcat, i can’t quite put my finger on it but i’m not hugely keen on it

buying the machinery in the country its going to be used instead of trying to save a couple of quid is probably a good starting point

you do seem to have exceptionally bad luck with machines...

my 6480 is a 2013 machine, it’s a great tractor for road work and drives better than my valtra of the same age. my brothers got a 6180 and you wouldn’t want to go to far in it

i’ve got a valtra t163 and a massey 6480. both 50k boxes but run more like 55k. both are in the 150hp-180hp range. cracking tractors, never wanted for more power

so let me get this straight, and correct me if i’m wrong... Firstly You bought a chipper from england to use in your business in france? obviously you looked into the dealer and support network before the purchase agreeing with a local dealer that they would provide the required support if it was required Im not au fait with the differences in RRP between different country’s but can only assume there is a fair price difference to make you want to buy from outside of the country you work and live in now there is a fault with the chipper and you don’t want it dealt with by a french dealer? i’m assuming that’s because they didn’t sell you the machine and you didnt make arrangements regarding warranty work with a local dealer before purchase. You think that the local dealer won’t act on any warranty work in the manner in which you perceive they should as it will probably cost them money to do so as they haven’t benefited from the original sale in any way

been digging a pond this week got most of the sides and bottom shaped up this week. back monday to finish off sides and start leveling around the sides etc IMG_0760.MOV

agreed, we planted a hornbeam hedge at home 6 years ago. up until last year when we reduced it had got to 11ft tall and has now been brought down to 6-7 ft the plants were only 50-60cm tall when we planted them

the intermecato is probably one of the best grippers out of all the tree shears, I believe the new t cut series are better than the older versions as they can cut both sides of the blade I run mine beneath a engcon tilt rotator which transforms it for manoeuvrebility

i’ve got the intermecato shear, it’s on a larger base machine but is robust enough. i’d probably get a TMK if i replaced its but the bloke never came back to me when i enquired
