  1. There should'nt be that much difference. £40 will get you a load of perfect 12" and under oak, syc or birch. I have heard of people being charged more. Skyhuck will sort you out though, ideal for him.
  2. £25 delivered in? that is cheap. £35 - £40 is the going rate now. It would seem he's just got round to putting his prices up from a few years back.
  3. Interesting job that, you did well. Like to see the timber too!
  4. Lockerbie pays a LOT LESS than firewood. I know cause I sent 400 tonnes there this summer, and wished I'd firewooded the lot. What are you paying? I can do you a good deal into Lancashire in the next 2 months or so.
  5. John, Are those your generators in the Avatar? could you put up some more pics?
  6. Ditto Reg. Family puts things in perspective (for me) Nice work on a tight difficult tree.
  7. Sorry John, I could'nt quite remember the details, but I knew you had experience. Congrats on that grant - must have been a lot of paperwork.
  8. Yup. I'm waiting for Al to come back, as he's the expert on it.
  9. What model is it? I have a Bosky, that has a 15 long by 12 wide by 24 inches deep firebox, and on wood I struggle to keep it in. If I bank it right up at 11pm, its still in at 6am. I want a big outdoor boiler really.
  10. 3 phase grid supply is by far the cheapest, but as you say, its the cost of installation. I would buy some LONG hydraulic hoses before I invested in a 3 phase generator though. Put a power pack outside in a soundproof box, and run your hydraulic power into the buuilding.
  11. Our police force are not easy to get a FAC from. I am surrounded by 18 acres of farmland, but because there is another dwelling within 500 yards, I cannot get an FAC. Its also nearly impossible up here to get permission to shoot on anybodys land.
  12. eBay.co.uk Shop: Search results for HARRIER FLUID POWER LTD.
  13. Its worked for me. I have nearly all my own plant, and my own haulage. I build in extra diesel and accomodation in advance. Not saying its ideal, but we seem to be quick and efficient enough to make it pay for both ourselves and clients.
  14. Not enough flow or pressure in a power steering pump. Tipper power pack would burn out in no time powering a splitter.
  15. What a joke. These are the people who are supposed to look after us? And we are deemed not safe enough to own firearms? Anybody who knows guns knows that you never ever ever point one at somebody unless you fully intend to shoot them.
  16. That was with a proper deck, from Andrew Holmes forestry equipment
  17. What sort of volume and tonnage?
  18. For Forestry and land clearance we work nationwide
  19. Nah, in my experience its the large harvesting contractors and Sawmills that seem to benefit the most.
  20. which is laughable, as you want the grant because you cannot afford the kit in the first place.
  21. It was:001_smile:
  22. Its to expensive though. If they did it with a proper log deck for £17k, the might get me to buy one. At the moment though, its ridiculously overpriced.
  23. Another. This was when the machine was brand new. It still had the felling head on it when I bought it, but some thieving scrote nicked it when we cleared the APF site at cannock chase
  24. This is the machine for the job. I bought this exact machine in the picture from a contractor in scotland. Shame I lost it really.
