  1. excavate the roots on one side, and push over. Its an old fashioned but effective way of getting a big rootball out the ground, as it uses the trees own weight as leverage. I prefer a splitter / shear on the excavator to break up the rootball in situ.
  2. The work is currently in the Conwy area, about an hour from chester
  3. as some of you know, my little tracked chipper was stolen earlier this year. I have'nt replaced it yet as my utility contract went very quiet. I'm now back on busy again, but reluctant to jump and invest in another until we have a few months under our belt. I'm looking for a daily hire, delivered to site and taken away again. quite happy to pay for an operator with it.
  4. Best 3 point link winch I've used is a 5 tonne farmi, until I mounted an igland 5000 double drum on a blade with 3 point linkage. If your local dealer has farmi, I would go for that.
  5. Let me know if you need someone to move the timber:001_smile:
  6. Topf Aufruf der Wasserkocher schwarz..?
  7. I looked into the 1300, a lot of the parts are mercedes commercial truck parts.
  8. Poo. My cunning and not obvious at all plan failed. Superb piece of kit the MB, I nearly bought a 1300 with high speed kit a few years ago from a finance company. The little ones like that in the picture are great in the woods, and the setup of the winches makes them better for skidding than a county.
  9. Ditto. I made next to nothing out of the big skyline job I did this summer. But it kept lads in work and kit just about paid for over 4 months. And when decent profitable work comes back in (as its starting to) then I'm still here with all my kit. Difficult times need weathering through.
  10. Looks like a 900 to me. They are the biggest pile of crap tractor going, and I would'nt touch one with a very long barge pole. BTW, who did you say was selling it....?
  11. And it was built and tested just down the road from me:001_smile:
  12. the word 'jeep' comes from the old US Army acronym GP standing for general purpose (vehicle)

I actually have no problems with dancing, quite enjoyable watching scantily clad ladies cavorting... Its the flippin' judges that grate on my soul like fingernail down a blackboard.

I am having to endure it whilst sitting with the better half. Glad I have the laptop to distract me. Friggin' drivel makes my brain dribble out my ears.

Great idea if you can get it cheap enough. I toyed with buying a 32 tonne hooklift with bigskips, very versatile piece of kit.
  21. I used to braze on fresh tips.
  22. Add a bit of raised heap in the middle, and its easily 2m3+.
  23. Already tried one of those Broyeurs de Boise when I was in France:wink: The french have some natty little machines. I was particularly taken with a little Bugnot BV44
  24. I've had one of those 528 tracked Jensens. Give me the little green chipper anyday.(which in case you had'nt guessed, is nt a greenmech. Its a french machine badged as a GM)
  25. As far as I'm aware, Sodexo have an exclusive contract for all facilities management of bases for the MOD. Sodexo are part of Forte, the biggest facilities management company in the world.
