  1. Its ok tony, you must be a few streets infront of me- im finding out the basics:stupido3:
  2. Suppose its like a man-made cavity? Is that not detrimental to a healthy tree with that kind of wound? Im not picking, not at all, just very interested. Like is it not possible to do that to a dead part of a tree, such as stag horns in the crown of an old oak?
  3. Behave!
  4. Fair do ben, recon he will see it as tit for tat then. Think i would leave it and move on, sorry to say.
  5. Sorry to hear that ben, dont want to sound nosey about the amount, but are we talking a few quid, or enough to send the boys round for? Suppose it also depends on the circumstances, like did he intend to shaft you over- taking you on to get work done knowing he was going under- and how well do you know him? You done work before, and has he communicated with you? I have been there recently and the guy was upfront with me, and offered to pay bits as he could. Getting money out of someone who cant pay, or doesnt want to, can be a delicate process.
  6. Ok Monkeyd, i`ll be the numpty here and ask; Whats the cut out in the second pic for? I am very fascinated.
  7. Whats the knife for Kev, just if someone tries to cut it:wave:
  8. My gloves are basic, just cheapo criss-cross gloves, give good grip and your hands still breathe. Would seem strange climbing without gloves now.
  9. My newest rope is xtc fire, quite happy with it, but still seem to keep going back to the samson arbormaster. Guess im not that hi-tech!
  10. Strange that Andy, I had the calender call today! Gave the usual bull, going to distribute 20,000 copies in our area, the would offer me exclusive advertising as the only tree contractor in the area! Yeh, yeh! Not had the one of them saying you already owe them for it though. Good bit of warning, cheers.
  11. Very cool pic Colin. Some of the pics on this thread must be competition level. Dont think mine are upto much though:embarassed:
  12. Reading this topic is like a foriegn language to me!

  17. Jeez kev, you should take the sandwich board off your back when you`re not at work:wave:
  18. Spoke to a mate of mine at the weekend who is in Ag, he said the word is red will be £1/liter and white£1.60/liter by the end of the year:scared::scared: Its really getting out of hand.
  19. Try a garden fork mate, then clean the last out with a shovel, just experience speaking:icon14:

Eventhough i have 660, in fact near a full line of stihl, one of the best quotes i have seen is from the mighty Big A, and he said; "white up the tree, orange on the floor" Still cant find a just reason to argue with that. Cant believe i said that with only one husky in use, time for a drink........

Is that a stihl in your avatar though, it looks 660ish?
  23. I hear West Yorks is nice this time of year:proud:
  24. Guess im there now Darin, nothing like that face at the window at the end of the day. Enough to make any grown man weep.
  25. Just a bit of an update for those who showed interest; Insurance is not all it seemed, both myself and my dad have business insured with NFU. When my dad rang and informed them of the theft, they replied with a letter saying he had no longer got household insurance with them so the parts were not covered. On contacting them he was told that no machinery, equipment, stock or supplies are covered on his business policy. He presently pays in excess of £800 for his "business" policy. When he contacted the household insurers they said because they were viehicle parts they werent covered, and should have motor policy insurance- even though the viehicle is in hundreds of parts! My policy didnt cover the parts as they were not on my property. So, bit of a learning experience, the insurance policies are now to be reduced to the bare minimum, and the money saved will go towards extra security measures like CCTV, PIR`s, flood lights and a good stock of 12 bore cartridges.
