  1. Ah, sorry jamie, the reference to high tech was i`ve not advanced to an 11mm rope as yet! Dont mind the fire, just keep it for pruning jobs and the samaon mainly for dismantles. Not had a problem with either milking though.
  2. I dealt with b-trak, great, no problem. Also dealt with sherrill direct, bought a set of extra long klein spikes (that no one else seemed to be able to supply). They shipped them, i collected them from the courier and payed them the tax. All together, including postage and tax they came out at £180- could hardly buy a standard length set here for that.
  3. Ok, i`m playing catchup, i didnt pay enough attention to see the bark blowing off the stem of the beech! Looks very interesting work you get involved in and the work that goes in creating a habitat such as that beech is not easy. Sorry for my silly questions, but i was just curious to know more! I find it a very interesting subject that i have never been involved in, cheers.
  4. Really nice pics tim, nice to see stuff like that. It makes our job look easy by comparison in the modern world!
  5. Dont get carried away, read the whole post!
  6. Eh? Definately not! I had two of them, ran for many years, bomb proof, but as i say before i was in arb. You obviously never had anything to do with them, biggest downfall was only available in petrol- would be a killer in this day and age! Small truck, 4x4, go anywhere, drive like a car, throw your crap in the back, tow 1200kgs, 35mpg, what more could you ask for in 1990?
  7. Ok, heres my favourite of a few years back (pre arb work) you wont get many chips in it but you can get £50 worth of logs in it, and it will go anywhere! Shame they stopped it and didnt build a diesel;
  8. Its ok tony, you must be a few streets infront of me- im finding out the basics:stupido3:
  9. Suppose its like a man-made cavity? Is that not detrimental to a healthy tree with that kind of wound? Im not picking, not at all, just very interested. Like is it not possible to do that to a dead part of a tree, such as stag horns in the crown of an old oak?
  10. Fair do ben, recon he will see it as tit for tat then. Think i would leave it and move on, sorry to say.
  11. Sorry to hear that ben, dont want to sound nosey about the amount, but are we talking a few quid, or enough to send the boys round for? Suppose it also depends on the circumstances, like did he intend to shaft you over- taking you on to get work done knowing he was going under- and how well do you know him? You done work before, and has he communicated with you? I have been there recently and the guy was upfront with me, and offered to pay bits as he could. Getting money out of someone who cant pay, or doesnt want to, can be a delicate process.
  12. Ok Monkeyd, i`ll be the numpty here and ask; Whats the cut out in the second pic for? I am very fascinated.
  13. Whats the knife for Kev, just if someone tries to cut it:wave:
  14. My gloves are basic, just cheapo criss-cross gloves, give good grip and your hands still breathe. Would seem strange climbing without gloves now.
  15. My newest rope is xtc fire, quite happy with it, but still seem to keep going back to the samson arbormaster. Guess im not that hi-tech!
  16. Strange that Andy, I had the calender call today! Gave the usual bull, going to distribute 20,000 copies in our area, the would offer me exclusive advertising as the only tree contractor in the area! Yeh, yeh! Not had the one of them saying you already owe them for it though. Good bit of warning, cheers.
  17. Very cool pic Colin. Some of the pics on this thread must be competition level. Dont think mine are upto much though:embarassed:
  18. Reading this topic is like a foriegn language to me!
  19. think that was the offer i saw log. Mine were 1 set, no bolts, £96 +vat!
  20. Just got some for my greenmech and noticed they had yours on offer at the moment!
  21. Credit to you for your input on the forum, supplying feedback and acknowledgement of users comments. Nice to see.
  22. Jeez kev, you should take the sandwich board off your back when you`re not at work:wave:
  23. Spoke to a mate of mine at the weekend who is in Ag, he said the word is red will be £1/liter and white£1.60/liter by the end of the year:scared::scared: Its really getting out of hand.
